I have been waiting for these to come out. It sounds like they will set new standards for small scale RC cars. What do you think about the controller? This has been a area of concern for me.

Do these cars have front or rear springs/suspension or no suspension at all?

Also, because of a lack of a nuckle at the front, you wont be able to add any either (or at least as far as I can see)

Wait till I get some vid of it actually moving, might not seem so steep then.

Definately a collectors item rather than a toy for kids - but it will perform against the best.

The steering mechanism in those cars looks weird. (at least, to me, but I'm new to micro cars) Also, the remote controle in the above picture looks awkward.

I posted this in another thread, but I'm posting it here too because it merits it..

These things seem to have potential...nice control and acceleration in a compact low-profile chassis. Although I haven't see any close-ups, the bodies appear to be pretty detailed and to scale. The chassis antenna is an interesting design, but the verdict is still out on the range these cars will offer.

However, it also appears to have some serious limitations . That controller looks plain silly, especially for a car of that price. The lack of suspension is a bummer too. The price is the worst limitation, considering you can buy 3 ZZ SE's and some type of upgrade kit for the same price.

Yeah, the ZZ SE has its limitations too. However, their performance (run time aside) has increased to the point where the only serious downside right now is the high profile of the chassis that encourages bodies that are out of scale.

That price quote of $80 is a big mistake as far as I'm concerned. They will be selling very few of them at that price, especially with that controller and the lack of suspension these cars offer. They need to get the price closer to a ZZ SE. If that price was halved, for instance, they have a much better chance of surviving. If you really want one, get it quick....I don't think they are going to be around long. I'm waiting until they go on clearance because they can't sell them at that price.

The price is right in line with what Epoch indoor racers originally sold for. My main concern is lack of suspension and the looks of the controller. After buying many small scale rc cars that did not work as well as expected, paying 80-90 dollars for one that really works with great body detailing wont be that bad. I am very tempted to buy one of these to try it out. The holidays have put a pinch on funds however.

That's a pretty good point concerning the price. I'm sure many people on this forum have spent at least that much on bits. No one can deny that the Metl Tech racers are a mini-rc enthusiast wet dream. No need for any performance mods and who would want to at $80? Also, the bodies are listed at $10.95, but they are diecast.

Still, my preference is to get a cheap bit and mod the crap out of it. After all, modding is half the fun.
