Can CF driveshaft fry my electronics?

Well its that simple can it fry them or not i did to know ASAP so i can order one for my truck, thanx in advance.

meteoraclown 04-13-2004 09:22 PM

it shouldn't. it never touches the esc/pcb so your electronics sould never fry with the drive shaft.

civic freak 04-13-2004 09:37 PM

no thats not what i meant can it fry it like a regular driveshaft, in other words does carbon fiber conduct electricity?

Tbird Man 04-13-2004 11:45 PM

I would say yes, though i am not sure. most spark plug wires in 1:1 cars use carbon fibers to conduct instead of metal to cut down on EMI.

SHIFT_DRIFT 04-14-2004 12:12 AM

yeah it does.
but it dosnt touch the PCB anyway.
or if it did there shouldnt be no source that touches the driveshaft anyway.
unless u find a battery aough it w/ one end then touch the other end onto ur L2 inducters...
but i dont htink any one's that DUMB.

highly unlikely unless you short across the PCB

civic freak 04-14-2004 06:13 PM

AHH man,i really wanted one so that i could make my truck 4wd. but oh well thanx 4 tha info the reason i asked is my very first car a skyline the driveshaft touched the board somehow and poof it was fried .thanx 4 your help.

meteoraclown 04-14-2004 06:56 PM

maybe you touched the anntena wire to the batts. if the DS touched the pcb and nothing else then it never fried the electronics.

neurokinetik 04-15-2004 11:40 AM

The CF driveshaft is much less likely to short out anything on the board. It is somewhat conductive, but not nearly as conductive as the metal one. I think that the driveshaft shorting out the board is the root cause of "XMod spontaneous combustion" that some people have experienced.
