im thinkin of buying and xmod
and want to know if they are worth
the 50$.i just recently bought a zipzap
should i continue with them or an xmod
i want to customize mostly

there worth the 50 if you just want looks but if you want customization in speed and other parts mini zs have alot, but you cant change bodykits and there alot more $$$

so spend the cash on xmods i wont really
be playin with it much just customize
it a lil.

completely worth the money you say you dont want to drive much but once you drive one of these youl love it. get rechargeable batts tho

if you want to customize and have some cash get a micro rs4 or a xray m18. they are 1/18 scale which is bigger than an xmod. there are tons, and i mean TONS of coztomizable parts for micro rs4s. just my 2 cents.

I had a zipzap but modified it till it broke..
A XMOD is a nice cheap (compared to the others) rc car.
I bought a RSX XMOD a week or so ago, I now have all the mods except the CLL (light kit).
It's fun to get in to, relativly cheap, and they are a hoot to drive.

IMO XMOD is one step down from a money pit, there are only so many mods to be done, which is a good thing for me.

There are plenty of DIY mods to be done, which IMO is more fun than the retail "bolt on" mods.

Get one and enjoy, I do reccomend the rechargable battery kit from RS.

I WOULDN"T recomend the batt kit from RS. it can damage your batts a.k.a leaking or loss of life. i would get IC3's from rayovak. 15 min chage but kind of expensive. plus if you get a micro rs4 you can use your ic3's on that too.

id say go with it. if you dont like it within a week, just return it. they have to take it back no matter what. no questions asked.

The xmod owners that I spoke two said the battery recharger for the xmods at RS is worth it.
I don't see how the recharger would fry the batteries that were supplied.
If they did fry, I would take it back, because they didn't work as intended.

i love xmods.

i've never really been into r/c cars, but have had a few in my life but never really showed to much interest. i've been active in the import scene for about 5 years. owning 2 cars who have won awards at both hot import nights and import invasion, also holding top spots at the likes on onlineshowoff.com and have earned features on importcreationonline.com and more... however, that's a different story.

i've been big into videogames my whole life. i recently left a assist. manager position at gamestop to sign on as manager at game rush (in blockbuster).

so about 3 weeks ago, i was next door at radio shack or what not minding my own... and i started watching the guys who work there flying around the store with a skyline xmod. i was immediatly blown away by the size and speed of these things. my eyes then caught a glimpse of the xmod wall. it was loaded with motors, body kits, wheels, accessories... all kinds of stuff. and modifieing is right up my alley knowing my history in the "scene" and all. so i was like "whoa"...

some urban asian guys then came in... they were about my age (between 18-22) pretty cool dressed... (not dorks) with their xmods. they were all talking about aftermarket mods, and racing, and stuff... i kinda just overlooked them and listened closely... (as a matter of fact that's how i heard about tinyrc.com ;))

that night i was online looking at sites like this... i wanted to see how big this xmods scene really was. too my suprise... it was HUGE! i found tons and tons of resources for these little xmods cars.

so the next day i walked in to radio shack with $150 in hand and my eye on the blue honda civic starter set. i also initially bought the stage 2 motors, rechargeable batteries, body kit, foam tires and some other things. the guy who works there (james) is really cool and told me he has TONS of defective and complete xmods in a box in the back that they end up just throwing away, and if i needed anything to let him know. i left with 2 extra civic bodies, a skyline body, some skyline wheels, and extra chassis, an extra controller and more.

since then (about 2 weeks later) i have about 200 xmod "parts" and a growing collection of paints, carry cases, etc. i spend hours on ebay everyday bidding on parts to make my car faster and look better. i am really hooked on this hobby and probably spent well over $500 in about 2 weeks. i can't get enough. it's just so cool hauling up and down the pavement in an r/c car no bigger then your shoe at speeds up to 20 and 30 mph! it's a blast!

i still have my hookup at radio shack for replacement parts and recently bought neurokinetik's (tinyrc.com moderators) 180 civic to add to my collection. i paid over $100 for it alone, but what can i say? the video of it racing a stage 2 skyline sold me ;)

i also have an xmod crew (link found in my signature) and have my girlfriend well involved in my new hobby as well. she has a skyline and we are currently building a supra which just finished it's blue metal flake paint job. it will be getting a lot of attention here soon. i've learned more in the last couple weeks about xmods then some people have learned in months... i am very open for questions and like to help. any questions... just ask :)

hey. well i got an x mod in january and ive had my fun with it. being the owner of many nitro rc cars including a t maxx and saying that these little 50 dollar (compared to 400 dollar) cars is really a pretty strong review. What i mean by that is after driving all of these extreme rc cars, these x mods are still cool to drive. as sayed before they are very customizable which also makes them cool, and i would recommend going for ic3s and the set of 2 stages first. I also noticed a huge difference when i put all wheel drive on my car so thats something to consider too. other then that its up to you and what kind of performance you want. :D
