6th cell power to weight worth it?
 

hey guys, I just aquired another XMOD thats bone stock. I have a 5th cell on my other and its hella quick with the stage 2 top speed motor. However I know that there is a lot of people that are doing the 6th cell. I was wondering how much of a boost you actually get from a 5th to a 6th because of the added weight. Or would it just have the same increase as it would as going from a 4 cell stock config to a 5th cell?

the boost on mines was amazing!!!!!!! definitly do it! i have been running mines for about a month with 6 cells and have had no problems. the only thing you should be concerned about is probably the axles and the cups and all that stuff that might break.

I think it is worth it. its a little heavier, but with the significance boost of acceleration and top speed, that extra weight wont matter. its hard getting it to fit under my supra though. i had to raise it with 3 plastic bushings.

ya i think it is well worth it ever since i put the 6 cells under my skyline i had a lot of tourqe and acceleration with an incredible top end speed with the yellow motor it go faster thana blue 4-cell xmod.With little modification to my body top of dremeling out the light kit mounts with an xmod battery holder it is perfect because it the smallest holder you can probaly get to fit under a xmod overall i think you shold go for it the weight is not really a problem the two extra cells make up for all of the weight.

did you guys go from a 5th to a 6th cell? Or just from stock to 6th? I'm really looking for the increase over a 5th cell.

Anyway, I think I know how I'm going to make it fit under the 2nd supra I have. All I have to do is cut off those support things in the back on the shell.

ya i just went from stock to 6 cells and i forgot i did cut out some of those support things to make it fit right and it fits so good that it feels like a stock xmod because i dont have to force it on in.Plus i added quick disconnects so i can change it from 4,5,and 6 cells so i won't mess it up (fry the electronics) when i put in the light kit

where did you get the quick disconnect from. On my other XMOD its like a permenant wireing to the shell right now because I didn't know where to get a nice small plug to connect it.

I've seen people with the XMOD motor plug hooked up (don't know wether is was bought or ripped from an XMOD) but that seems idea for the situation.

I got the quick disconnects from radio shack and (this is optional) you could take off the platic coating and put electric tape to cover the exposed meatal to save room under the body.

Okay, all I need now is a definite answer that the 6th cell is a big performance gain over the 5th.

I don't see the need for connectors if you always run the same amount of cells.

you will need conectors so you can change it from the 6 to 4 cells so when you put the light kit in you won't fry the electronics.

I don't think that the light kit will fry... or have any other adverse effects on the car besides the added weight and tiny power consumtion. I run my 5 cell config with the lights without any problems.

I've been using my light kit with 6 IC-3's. :D

Li Ions for nearly the same voltage and even less weight than 4(aaa's)

I thought that those were meant for lesser power hungry use, like ditigal camera and such.

Anyway, what kind of performance gain will I see from going from 5 to 6 cells. And is there any risk involved with frying anything if I add 6? Or is that only when people wire them up wrong. Keep in mind I'm only using the RS batterys and maybe in the future some maha powerex.
