in car dyno

it would be really cool if you put a very small and light lcd screen in your xmod that measured dyno statisics. It could show top speed, and 0-10 mph, and total wheel spin. while still allowing your car to move(unlike real dynos)

i have an old cd player with an lcd but i have no clue how to hook one up. it would be cool though. i would probably want it to be removable if i had one in my car though

Like a really tiny G-Tech... Nice idea, but it'd be reeeallly hard to shrink one of those down small enough. If you did, though, you basically have telemetry for your 1/28th scale car. And that is beyond nuts...

TurboSube 02-06-2004 11:56 PM

Telemetry .. hmmm.. maybe I should look into some of the hospital grade telemtry units they use at some of the places I work...

im not actually going to try it, im only 11 i cant afford it i just said it would be cool

rmyc 02-08-2004 02:36 AM

g-tech ...hahahhaha

i was planning to get one of those..but i'm still skeptical...it works rell good..but the technology in it scares me..:D

spitty12 02-09-2004 12:41 AM

I borrowed my friends gtech in my auto truck, really bad idea. I kept trying to beat my lateral g's and improve my 0-60 time. I went through a set of 50k mile tires in 6k partly due to burn outs though. Now if I could only get it in my real sports car;)

this is what you want

I believe this is what you want. Look under Venom Speed Checker.

pacificwarriors 02-09-2004 02:45 PM

seen it, it is the size of the pcb it would never work

microINNOVATION 02-09-2004 11:33 PM

honestly i think this might be easier than we think i was wondering around wal mart and found a bicycle "computer" that was on sale for 5 bucks. it does everything mph top speed all of it and its small about 1.5 inch by 1 inch with the casing and if u pop that off its prolly smaller. im working with it right now and will keep u updated. ps it was a schwinn if you want to go check it out

bob256 02-10-2004 01:13 AM

Does that bicycle computer need a sensor?
Hopeful not, it'll work awesome if it doesn't

spitty12 02-10-2004 01:49 AM

They usually have a magnetic sensor on the spokes and the computer counts the number of passes to calculate speed and distance.

Check the packaging to see if it's differnt, it would be a neat thing to have but hard to read as the car passes by

neurokinetik 02-10-2004 04:49 PM

Bicycle computer wouldn't work well for this application due to the size of the sensor. I had a similar computer for inline skates, but the same problem exists. You need to attach a small magnet to one of the wheels, and on a wheel as small as we are using, that will drastically throw it out of balance.

microINNOVATION 02-10-2004 06:13 PM

i put a magnet off of a bit char g steering arm on an old wheel and made a reg dyno...but you could take apart the senor and make one out of the sensor like in a mouse.

microINNOVATION 02-10-2004 08:46 PM

yes at the risk of messing the whole thing up i cut the sensor wire it consist of a positive and negative wire i stripped them and learned that the faster the touch the higher the rms i guess youd say so in a nutshell it might be possibe to do what we want
