Welcome to the "short range" club. My driveshaft touched my PCB the first day I owned the car and my range died (5 feet or so, the typical complaint) I bought a replacement PCB and it was all better. Until I ran into a bowl of water for my cats to drink out of. :(

Anyhoo, always turn off the car before doing any work on it. That's the lesson I learned. The oil though, dunno if you could have avoided that one aside from using less oil, eh?

Try your range out. I'd bet your car won't go more than 20 feet away from you without acting REALLY funny. Probably less than 20 feet.

yep thats exactly what happend on the pcb swich do you think i could just replace the board with the crystal and stuff on it or do you think go i should ahead and replace the main board

newbitowner 01-16-2004 11:58 PM

What would need to be replaced if the pcb is shorted?

microINNOVATION 01-17-2004 01:32 AM

well its a good chance that the main pcb will have to be replaced

12414207 - PCB ASSY RECEIVER $9.49

Is it an easy install? Any soldering? Is it a plug and play?

neurokinetik 01-17-2004 11:52 AM

Soldering is required, but it is just 4 wires AFAICR...

microINNOVATION 01-17-2004 11:53 AM

im pretty sure you would just have to install it if it were ther whole assebly like battey case and everything but you do have to take most of the car apart to do it

microINNOVATION 01-17-2004 12:02 PM

I had to resolder one of mine, because my "data" broke, so I just resoldered them all. Not easy for me, but I'm not the best solderer.
