Video: My drag Civic vs. stage 2 Skyline

My ISP is going to hate me for this one...

http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokine...e1-smaller.mpg

This is my drag Civic (6 cells, custom-wound 180 motor, AWD, bearings, CF driveshaft, soft slicks, weight reduction) vs. a Skyline (4 cells, S2 road race, bearings)

The Skyline doesn't look that fast in this video, but rest assured that it is. No 130 motor that I have made has been able to beat it, it would haul me down at the end of the track every time. The 180 that is currently in the car can take him even with 4 cells, though.

i cant see the vid.

I'll re-encode when I get home. I don't know what codec the software used, but it doesn't work for me on my work computer either.

Racer240 01-15-2004 04:51 PM

I was able to view it. Very fast civic :D The skyline looked like it was stock compared to the civic. But whenever there was only 1 sec left to end the vid, a message came saying some type of error then my computer would freeze

she flys,wow

TypeZer0 01-15-2004 05:52 PM

dang, that's fast! could you do a dragrace between two cars where teh only difference is the 180 and 130 motors used in that vid?

neurokinetik 01-16-2004 09:06 AM

Yeah, but unfortunately, he is a staunch RWD guy, and I know that with the kind of torque I'm getting, that AWD is the only way to go. On four cells in the same car, I still ripped him a new one (it didn't get taped, though) and with the Team Orion stock motor, I killed him in the first half of the track, but he caught me at the end, and won by probably a single carlength.

 whoa now that was fast!!!!!!!!

LKAFJSDFLKASJDFLKAJS!!!!!

Damn, that's fast.

Real men encode with Quicktime/AVI.

Did you ever put those funny car tires on it?

Also, do you have any way to check the speed?

neurokinetik 01-17-2004 01:34 PM

The funny car tires didn't do what they were supposed to do (ie, provide traction  ) so I haven't used them. After finding that AWD doesn't have a huge effect on top speed, I've abandoned the idea of going RWD.

Top speed according to the Tamiya Speed Checker is 38kph (23mph), which isn't really all that fast, but it certainly reaches top speed in a hurry. :)

After some experimenting, I think Divx/mpeg4 is the codec of choice.

I don't know if you realize that 23 mph with a 1:28 scale car is 644 scale mph!

hey, I was wondering how much of a difference the CF driveshaft actually makes in acceleration? Or maybe help top speed with the AWD kit.
