Can anyone confirm rumors....
...that the body kits for all cars are no longer made ? Also I heard the next xmods will be RX-7, Eclipse and Lexus IS 300. Don't like to start rumors, just want to confirm to see if anyone else heard this...
|
This is the first I have heard. Where did you first here about this?
|
u mean the replacement bodies right? heard the rumor over at the other forum (the one where most of the people who've been there a long time have abandoned). apparently, one person ordered a replacement body, waited a week or two, called up RS for a status update, and was told they were processing his refund because they dont' sell it anymore. the rumor about the rx-7, is300, and eclipse seems to have sprang up spontaneously as i cannot pinpoint the first thread containing this info. seems unlikely since RC Car Action magazine (i think that was the one) said in a short blurb about radioshack releasing euro tuner cars by the end of this month. it's possible they'll release teh rx-7, is300, and eclipse but they'll more likely trickle them out into the market to make sure some models get sold

Maybe this means i cant also buy the RX-7 Body aww...i really wanted to paint an RX-7 without buying one..oh well:D |
I dont think the company behind the XMODs, the one behind Radio Shack, is even ready for new stuff. I mean c'mon they came out with a Supra and Skyline ("SAFE" cars they knew people would buy), the older body style of the Civic (which means they were behind the curve a lil bit), and I bet the new RSX just came out when they decided to throw that one in. I'm just saying they took a couple of years to come out with the XMODs - the company didnt move forward fast.
I dont have positive proof, but lots of Radio Shack stores say the Micro RC cars things (whatever they are called) still sold more during the Holiday Season. So the company did well from our perspective, but it doesnt mean they did so well as to justify coming out with a bunch of new body styles... HOPEFULLY I AM INCORRECT and they come out with more body styles :) |
Actually I completely disagree with RS being behind the curve in releasing the 2000 Civic model body. If you will note, at least one of the other cars is a 1997 body style. Releasing the 2000 model year was most likely intentional after the creators of the XMOD did some research similar to the research I did before purchasing my full size Civic.
The 2000 Civic is the last year that Honda made a civic with certain suspension components that made it desireable vs. the newer Civics, as well as in the sport compact real world the Civics that are heavily modified are actually mid 90's. Most Civic enthusiasts will agree that USDM civics made after 2000 are for the most part garbage. JDM Civics, ala Type R, are another matter all together. I speak from experience. When I purchased my full size 2000 Honda Civic Coupe (black, and exactly the same body style as the xmod version) I did so after doing a great deal of research on Civic models and decided the 2000 was the best model year for my modding purposes (engine swap, upgrades, etc etc). |
um this guy i know said he read on speedoption magazine about rx-7, s2000, and something else coming this year, I haven't seen the article but i asked him to bring it tomorrow, if he brings it. now for the rx-7, i don't think they'll make them because of the headlights, how are people gunna put lights? do they flip up? unless they already convert them to the "jdm" look from stock

everyone else sure thinks to think that the new bodys are coming so i hope so

Radio Shack has stated that they are talking to car manufacturers and getting rights for new cars. but they have not said which manufacturers or what cars. thier offical stance is they will be making more, somtime soon. as far as the replacement Sku's are all available, but when you go to order them it says the warehouses are out of stock and to allow extra time for shipping, so far none that i have orderd have come.
