FINALLY got the pinions off...
1 Attachment(s)
Well i finally found a way to get my pinions off without damage. So i put the 10T on a 180 out of my HPI Micro RS4. I was hopeing for a little more speed but i should get it when i put 6 cells on.
EDIT: Pic was really bad. |
so....how did you do it? pinion puller?
if it's a pinion puller, which one did you use? someone (i think it's mr. bigshot) broke the gws micro pinion puller, i also heard the ninco one broke too
Well I shredded 2 using a butane lighter even though I could get the pinion red hot. A jet type torch lighter should do a better job. I used my fire place since it's natural gas powered, hold it in a flame using pliers and pull it out when it's red hot(about 20 seconds). The pinion will not look red hot while in the flame so pull it out to check. Use the flat side of a hammer and some leverage against the pliers you have to pop it off. BE CAREFUL when pulling the pinion off as it may go flying at some one or bury itself in melted carpet fibers

I put the motor in a vice and had my neighbor hold a screw drive under each side of the pinion then taped on the shaft with a nail. Came right off

HPI: how hard was it to get the pinion to give?
that looks nice. hows the torque? the rc shop here doesnt sell pinion pullers.
Lucid- Sorry for the slow reply. It wasnt hard at all. A few taps on the nail and it was off.
Are those motors faster than st. 2 motors with only 4 cells? if so, where can i get one?
I dunno about top speed. But acell was fast even with the largest pinion.
