Why God Why???

Ever since i installed the stage 2 motor the following has happened:

a) my car turns randomly, like i dont "tell it" to turn, and it just does

b) sometimes im commanding the car to go right, and it goes left (the right/left handed switch is in the right position)

c) THE SPEED HASNT EVEN GONE UP THAT MUCH

d) it stutters a lot, even whens its like 4 feet away from me

I dont understand why this could be, coul the motor be producing frequencys that mess up the radio??? I need help, nopw i feel bad about telling my friend to buy me the kit all the way from newyork! (im in toronto)

is the motor mising a capasitator

AUDI-TT 01-04-2004 09:54 PM

yes its a regular stage 2!!!
noone else is having this problem?

Have you tried running it with the original motor or another motor to see if it has the same problem? Could be the cap is either defective or insufficient.

Run it with the old motor and if the problem goes away, try soldering another cap in parallel with the cap that's already on the problem motor.

Have you checked the battery in your remote?, How about the batteries in the car? Are the batteries fresh? Is the wire going from the PCB to the Atenna in good shape or did it brake? Is the atenna in good shape or is it broken?

All of these things can lead to problems with the car.

Also try the sudjest above, if you still are having problems, it may be a defective car/remote. You may want to return it for a replacement.

you could try pushing the TX battery up into the contacts with a wad of paper.

My guess is that the antena wire is broken somewhere, that happend to me and it would stutter a lot too. I had to put some heat shrink tubing on it.

something like this was happening to me when i was racing micro rs4's. check the solder on the motor... there should be a resistor soldered to the motor. the motor emits a frequency when it runs and it messes up the radio controls of the car. the stuff thats soldered onto the motor stops that from happeneing. if its not connected properly u will have glitches....

Whenever you have electronic problems with a S2 motor mounted in, the first thing to check is the heat sink. If the heat sink touches the antenna or pretty much any other stripped metal for that matter, it may be shorting out your antenna and shorting out your motor. All of the "symptoms" that you described seem to all point towards this problem.

AUDI-TT 01-06-2004 03:46 PM

the rmote has batteries, i tried the original motor and 2 of the other stage 2 motors from the kit, they all had the same problem, therefore im guessing its not due to the capacitors or motors themselves, the heatsink is not touching any loose wires. the antenna wire is not broken, and the batteries in the car are freshly chjarged, and the battery in the remote is brand new...

thanx for ur help guys, but i think im screwed, i live in canada, and i cant just "return it"
although any other other suggestions would still ebe helpful.

You would be suprised how many people have come across the border to get X-Mods. One RS said that at least 1/2 of their X-Mods went to people from Canada.

AUDI-TT 01-07-2004 09:17 PM

i changed the wire from the pcb to the antenna, didnt help, made a new antenna, didnt help, recharged the car batteries again, didnt help....

HELP...

p.s. the border is 3 hours away from me and im 15, my parents work...

newbitowner 01-07-2004 11:00 PM

i'm having the same exact problem.

I think it's a loose antenna wire to the pcb. The car runs perfectly fine 3-4ft away from me.

I did do a lot of work before I had this problem.

How do I oepn the car to check the soldering of the antenna?

thanks
