Stage 3 of my xmod

Stage 3 of my work, pure speed! My fet's are mounted on the motor heat sink. The blue can you see is the 10,000uf power Cap. Mounted on each side is 2 CR2 lithium batteries

Be careful of that... You can't have the tabs of all four transistors attached to a metal heatsink without using some kind of insulator. Otherwise you'll short out the motor output, possibly taking the FETs out in the process.

that's pretty cool it looks like a big pile of batterys and wire

superglue doesn't conduct eletricty, unless im wrong?

So what did you do? Glue to plastic casing of the transistors to the heatsink? It's hard to see in the pic.

I glued the fins of the heat sink to the motor heat sink, the car runs fine. If something was wrong, my batteries would have heated up really bad and give off a smell. neurokinetik, do you happen to aim?

True, but it still seems risky to me. I would have used an ohmmeter or continuity tester to make sure that the transistors are truly isolated. The other problem is, over time, that setup is going to be exposed to vibration. Sooner or later, the transistors are going to be conducting across that heatsink. When that happens, it won't be good.

No I don't use any form of IM...

whats dose a power cap do?? and whats the highest cap that i can put on

scatmanjohn01 01-22-2004 07:30 PM

whats the huge capictor for, and whre does it connect to etc?
