metal U-joints

i was wondering why the people at XMODS go off and make such a vital part as a U joint out of plastic. (seeing how i just ripped one apart w/ the torque of my spinbrush motor) so i was wondering if there was anyone interested in machining some aluminium ones for me (i dont wanna hand fabricate such a precise part) ill pay for everything if someone can do it. email me at blackhawk@echoes.net

i see post of them breaking, but i put some in my neomag powered minix (way too much torque) and they are holdin up fine. i have ran it front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and 4wd with no problem. i have tried to see what their limit is with launching as hard as i can (with anti punch) and breaking hard (abs equiped) and they show no damage. but metal ones would be nice to see still. especially after this thing goes all out rally ;p

where is the rest though. i dont realy need the hub to be metal, i would like to see the little elbow joint part (closer to the wheel)metal. that is the weakest part of the system.

hello,

i have been working on just your broblem. i think that aluminum will work fine. the proto type is in this material. i am a machinist with access to machining centers and nothing aginst you 3series takumi but hand grinding is not the answer. cnc is. i will have some pics soon. if you need to see my work look here for some wheels i made.

as of today 2 of my cars are down b/c of the left cup joints.

craftsman, can you cell me some?

In the meantime, I'm going to buy 4 left joint cups.

Update:

left cup joints are on backorder, 2-3 weeks.

I need to try to make my own.

The bright side it...I only need to make 2.
