Mazda RX7 headlights... covered with paint.. :(
My Bit char-g AM set with the blue mazda rx7... the headlights are not transparent (instead its painted over) and thats the place where I want to put my LEDs.... anyone have a way to remove the paint without harming the body...? And i dont want to drill holes in the car.

if you are really carefull you can use a really shap x-acto knife to shave off the paint......

Ok..
Have you ever done this or heard of some1 doing this? And if I do.. will the headlights be all scratched up or anything?
|
ive done it......this is why you have to be carefull, if you do little short scrapes it will be scratched, you have to go over the whole area at a constant speed......this is what i did on my zz GT2 and Lotus concept car....

You could also take a Q-tip and dip it in nail polish remover.
carefully wipe it across the headlight and the paint will slowly come off this will take many q-tips and shouldn't risk scratching the headlights but do not get any nail polish remover near the body paint job remember to be very careful and good luck |
Doesn't the RX-7 have pop-up "frog" lights? Why bother to make the covers clear when the very headlights they are imitating doesn't make the light come out there? I'd say, wait, no, that would take a new paint job and a lot of work. But I was going to say, just drill holes pointing forward, almost horizontal, then put the lights in, then put putty around it to make it look like the pop-ups. err, crappy idea, don't pay attention to that...
