vaseline good for gears?
 

well, i have taken my car apart, and it was very dirty. i cleaned out everything. every last little peice. so now, its as dry as the sahara desert. it still doesnt have much friction due to the metal bearings which is a good thing, but the gears are loud and dont perform very well. i was wondering what i should use to lubricate it. i have alot of vaseline, but is that good to use?

use graphite... from a pencil, it works well for me

so how would i do that. should i hold it in the air and jab the pencil end in? would that work?

no they sell it at hobby shops in a little tube, its ground up like a powder and really works great

Or maybe you can just buy a pack of lead for a lead pencil and smash it up:D . And no you should not use vasiline because it will attract dirt and the dirt will stay them and grind into your gears and mess them up.:(

you should not just smash up a pencil you could possibly make it into a powder as fine as it is sold in.

how does graphite work well? isnt it just little tiny minerals? isnt little tiny minerals the kind of stuff you dont want getting in your gears?

it creates less friction which makes it spin smoother, if you dont want to try it you dont have too. my car has metal bearings and i used graphite spray on every one, and it has ran smoothly for the past 2 days non stop practically and it runs perfect.

i have been hearing nothing but good about them, so i guess i will pick up some soon. but i have 1 final question. since the metal ball bearings come pre-greased, wouldnt it be bad to use graphite since it will get stuckk all over the grease contained in the bearings?

you dont put it in the bearing, just on the inside, outside part... the middle part where the axle spins in the bearing.

Has anyone tried WD40 in the gears? Worked great in my combat digi-q, once upon a time. Doesn't attract gunk as badly as vaseline does.

wd40 has more chemicals which may be harmful to any plastics on the car...oil is such a mess, it gets spun out everywhere on the car and my car is in every single piece possible soaking in soap water right now.
