I recently recieved an rsx for an early gift and was not satisfied with the way that it handled, so I made it FWD, it handles great and all but I lose accl. on the straightaways to the RWD. My father in law has the same motor in his supra. I do understand that a loss of power is because of the FWD conversion, but do you you think a CF driveshaft such as the ones that Slugbugg is selling would help?

Hmmm...RWD had acceleration, FWD had great handling.....Hmm...Try combinng then to make AWD?

I'm highly doubting you're as old as you say you are. Ok the AWD kit works, but if you can't handle anything plastic properly, don't buy it. *sneers at Mr. Noobshot*

You may believe me to be as old as you like, to me it does not matter to that is not the point of subject nor my interest to discuss with you. The question was would the carbon fiber driveshaft be useful in the FWD set-up. I have the AWD set-up on my skyline and love it, but for the track we built the FWD smokes rear or AWD. its 23x9 in his Garage and is really neat to race on.

Same here, but I'm 13. I got a wicked civic which is dropped, has springs, a custom rewound motor ;) (by me), awd, and thats it I think for now. I need to get some tires..

sweet where'd you learn to wind? and did you clip your springs to get it lower?

Well I just looked though the internet alot on rewinding motors and took some good looks at them. Then I just tried it myself. The only problem I would have while winding the motors is losing my count:( . While lowering it, I used BC's tutorial which is http://www.tinyrc.com/forums/showthr...threadid=15196 . So no, I didn't clip or cut my springs. (it would give it to much camber, tooo much in the back.)

In my opinion, using a CF driveshaft in these cars is a bit of snake oil.

Benefits of a CF driveshaft on real cars: lighter, less flexing

Sure it will weigh less than the stock steel shaft, but in proportion to the overall weight of the car, will it make an appreciable difference? Very doubtful. As for rotating mass (bringing the shaft up to speed), again, the difference is not appreciable.

As for flexing, the tiny motor doesn't put out nearly enough torque to twist the stock steel rod.

So unless someone has some decent empirical evidence that the CF driveshafts are useful, I'd avoid them. :rolleyes:
