stock weight of xmods
hey yall im buyin my x soon, and i want the skyline. but according to real life facts, the skyline and the supra weigh the most. but i dont really want a heavy car, but i really dont want the civic. so, i was wondering if someone could post the weights or the lightest stock xmod on here. thanx a lot! it will help my decision.
P.S. - I hope the skyline IS the lightest as it is my second favorite real life car next to the 1999 mitsu eclipse gsx (btw, i own one with 20 grand in it) |
The lightest one will probably be the RSX, as the body os smaller. The Skyline feels the heaviest to me, but that's just because of the weight of the body. Lightening is really easy though, if you have a dremel tool. You can also just take off the body kit.

aight then. i think i will go with the rsx then. i thought that the skyline would be the heaviest. it just looks like a lot more plastic. can a fifth cell fit under the body with slight "dremeling"?

Hey Lemans...how fast does you Eclipse do 0-60 and the 1/4 mile in...:D
|
i dunno the 0-60 time. never really matters in a race. but the quarter is 12.78. not to bad for a 17.5 yr old.
|
12.78 , are you sure...because I just watched Car and Driver TV and they had a Mitsu Lancer Evo (stock 1/4 in like 13.4) and they put $25000 in it and it dropped to 12.7 and 0-60 in 4.0 I almost find it hard to believe that an eclipse with less power to start and less money put in it can do the 1/4 in the same time...but ive never seen the car:)
|
If they put $25k into an EVO and only got it into the high 12's, then they either spent their money foolishly or don't know how to tune. There are people putting EVOs deep into the 11's for only about $7k...
http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Produ...Index-US.shtml As for XMODs weight, it is easy to reduce weight by gluing on the hood, getting rid of the screws that hold it in place, plus the plastic posts. You can also do that with the bumpers and sideskirts. |
well then, u obviously dont know that everything is about power. its about the power 2 weight ratio. my car weighs like an mr-s. so, before ur skeptical i'll tell u that all cars are different with different potential. the evo is more electrical than my car is, so it is harder to extract more power from it. that is why they spent so much damn money modding it.

Obviously, you didn't even bother to read the link I posted...
Power-to-weight or not, if they spent $25k to get 12.7 in the 1/4, they got ripped off when Ultimate Racing's Stage 1+ would get them 12.5 for just under $3k... They better have put the rest of the remaining money into the suspension... :o |
you can reduce weight by either removing or replacing chassis parts with ones that you fabricated.
|
WOW...those videos are very ipressive...maybe they did spend their money wrong...lemans, you should post a cool video of you eclipse on here

check this out.

It's slightly off-topic, but this is a friend's car (Dave Applegate). It runs the 1/4 in the high 6's to low 7's, depending on how hard he wants to push the NOS. Anyway, he's put well over 50K into it.

Thats a really low time!!! But I hate American cars...just my opinion...
|
hes got a point about jap cars made in the USA there is a few honda plants over here
|
How bout you get a clue douche!! I could care less where they are made...it is the engineering and design fetures that make japanese cars sooooo much better than hick-ass american cars! Yea my subaru may have been made in Indiana, but it was designed and engineered FIRST in Japan. If they still made them in Japan...they would be flawless...the only thing that makes them not so good anymore, is the poor work quality that the lazy-ass american factory workers put in...at least the japs put some effort and quality in thier work. Lets just put one thing to rest. American cars suck and will never be nearly as reliable as japanese and european cars. And for the money, japanese cars will always be faster. Tell me if you can get an american car that is newer than 1997 to go 0-60 in 4.5sec and 1/4 in 13.2sec that cost $30,000 or less. I am referring to the new WRX STi. And no dont think the Ford SVT Cobra R...because they had a contest between the to and the STi won.
