tip to keep the screw on the screwdriver

i was having trouble with putting in my spoiler(i didnt have a drill bit so i had to improvise with a paperclip and a flame well i got the holes put in (i need to make them bigger) but when i went to screw in the screws they wouldnt stay on my driver i got so fustraited onetime i almost gave up but then i stuck my driver in the candle wax and they stick to the driver i just have to re wax every 5th time i need to screw something in
p.s. how do u magnitize a screw driver

xmodsupra 12-04-2003 10:55 PM

stick a strong magnet on the metal of the driver and it will magnatize

If you want it really magnetized, repeatedly rub a magnet from the handle of the screwdriver to the tip (always doing it in the same direction is the key).

man when i was working on my car every time i had to put a screw in i grabed my motor and rubed my driver:D

the screwdriver that comes in the starter kit is already magnetized. You don't need to do anything to it.

security civic 12-09-2003 04:47 PM

mine lost its magnitization somehow well thanks for the tips

LP_Reanimator 12-09-2003 05:56 PM

yeah, i never use the starter kit screwdriver for turning. I got another one for that. The only thing i use the starter kit screwdriver for is to put the screw into the socket and get it started since it is magnetized.

agree, the one in the kit is garbage, like most tools from rs.

i bought a GREAT screwdriver kit , a stanley set with both flat and philips from size 0 (which is what you use) to like size 3 or something. they are very good quality with spinning caps on the end and soft rubber grips toward the tip. when you use them alot you will realize how nice these features are.
i also magnetized mine using drac's neo magnets.

Those are really nice. Even nicer than the similar Craftsman ones that I am using. (they lack the rubber grip at the bottom). I went a bit further and icked up nut drivers of the same type, but I haven't found any yet that are metric. The english ones work well enough to get the wheels on and off, though.

Most hardware stores sell magentizers for screwdrivers.

I have no idea how much they cost though, since I just use the one from work :D
