Boasting Range?

I did a fairly amatuer mod with copper wire that worked well enough to give me about 20 feet range. Are there any other, better mods?

Thanks,
-Alex

P.S. i love my efini. I would highly recommend it.

If you can solder (which I cannot) you can replace the controller's antenna with a tellascopic antenna (availiable at RatShack). You can also do a Cat5 antenna mod... http://www.rcmod.com/mod1.html

what is this mod that gave u 20 foot range

Sorry for leaving you guys in the dark. I have been having internet problems. Anyway, after much testing, I'm sorry to say it doesn't seem to have 20 feet range. I thought it did, but it seems to fluctuate. Basically all I have done is quite crudly exposed the end tip of the wire antenna of the ZZ and twisted it qround a 3 inch or so piece of copper wire. They are intertwined together, if you will :) and i also used a piece of tubing from a lego mindstorms set as strength. Its good enough for me.

sorry again to get your hopes up. Its still better then it is stock.

p.s. i will post pictures soon of my intitial D body and the efini chassis to show what the antenna looks like.

I have never experienced this good of performance personally but

I read somewhere that the zz se is suposed to have a 44 foot range in optimum conditions.
optimal conditions-
-antanae perpendicular to ground
-no obstacles in between the controller and car.

supposedly this changes a lot though.
my 2 cents

by the way my car has a guitar string antanae that increases range a little bit.

I usually get pretty good range with all of my Zaps (49mhZ, 27mhZ, original as well as SE). Prolly 35+ feet or more. Here's where I drive mine, on the concrete driveway out in front of my house. Standing at the garage door (POV in this pic), I can drive my Zaps almost out into the middle of the street.

On zipzaps.com it says that SEs are supposed to go 40 feet!

According to their FAQ, up to 40' for the SEs, and approx. 15'-20' for the original Zaps. Course, a lot of this depends on battery condition, terrain (i.e. where you drive it, if there are any obsticles in the way, interferance from other electronics, etc...). Anyhoo, my SEs as well as my original Zaps (27mhZ as well as 49mhZ) both give me almost 40 feet of range out in my driveway -:)
