batteries
is there anyway that you can add more batteries or extend the life of the batteries on an xmod?

so should i buy the xmod metal bearings from radio shaq or are there different one i should buy instead?
|
you should buy rayovac ic-3 batteries from wallmart or kmart. they are a little more expensive but have longer runtime. do a search about them.

there are plenty of battery choices out there. while i've heard good things about the 15min cells, there are more choices. i prefer energizer's as they have proven to be of good quality over the last few months of use in mini-z's. i do not care for rayovaks (gold label). most of these can be found in target or walmart and even in some best buy's. i've noticed walmart typically has the cheapest prices. if you run you xmod alot, atleast 2 sets of batteries is a good idea. i must have about 5 sets by now and i still run out during all day mini-z and overland racing spree's.

im running the fifth cell on my supra....works great....its mountd in the trunk and hard wired in series...i also hard wired (soldered) all cells and mounted tabs on the +/- ends of the circuit and use an intellipeak charger to do the dirty work.....no problems as of yet...been thru 10 cycles so far. speed is awesome with the stage 2 drift. throttle setting on low, runtimes in the neighborhood of 30 mins....

No room in the RSX
I've found that there is not a lot of room in the RSX for the 5th cell. Has anyone else come up with a good place for it in the RSX?

I put some plain RayOVacs in mine and used them up with the AWD/RRs1 motor in about 20 minutes of playing around.
I also have a set of rechargables I use, but I only get about 10 minutes with those on any motor except the drift, and that only gives me another few minutes. Well, to be factual, the car still runs even after these times but it stops being zippy. Maybe there is a camera battery or something out that will work and give more power for longer? |
what i've found is after about those 10 minutes or extreme speed. throw the batteries on the charger grab a coke plug in the 2nd set and rip hte road up for another 10 minutes. the batteries will be almost charged by hte time your ready to race again

im waiting for my nexcell batteries i bought from ebay to get here, in the mean time i buy regular rayvacs, like 10 bux cad for 12 batts, holy crap theyr amazing, the first 5-10 minutes its like uncontrollable, but ive bought the same exact batteries at other places and sometimes they perform better than other times, i guess its because they might have been sitting on the shelf for a longer time. When u guys say u get a runtime of 20 minutes, does that mean 20 minutes, of fast satisfying sped? or just 20 total minutes of runtime before the car wont move anymore????
|
the time i say is when they are running fast. its not as fun when you know you have the capability to be going much faster

OR, try some Li-Ions :D
They run forever (1050mah), and at 7.2v your car will rock (for a while at least). Li-Ions also have less voltage drop over their discharge curve when compared to NiMHs. So you get more top-acceleration time out of them. So far I've wedged them into an RSX and a Skyline. |
