XMODS Problems
 

As some of you may have guessed I have the Nissan Skyline. I have heard alot of bad things and well it is true.
The first one I had the controler wouldnt go in revers. Also there was a loose wire.
I took it back. The second one the remote would cut out on the throttle but the steering wuld still work turned out to be the throttle board in the remote was loose.
The steering was puling to the left then the right ect. Finaly I found that one of the nylon bushings was to tight on the front left tire causing the intermitent pull. And finally the rear axle froze. I took it apart and got it to work a few times. It is working now but im not sure if it is fixed.

Differential
 

Above you can see the motor and front+rear drive gear That drives the differental gear. Here is the differental gear in one piece. There are no springs so taking it apart is easy and safe.

Here is a picture fo what is inside of the gear. the gear is in three main parts the gear face, gear backing, and the pilot gear guide frame. Then there are 3 pilot gears and 2 drive gears that drive the axles.

I hope these pics and discriptions help someone. If anny one has the same problem or a posible solution leave a post. The last thing I tried was to switch the axle drive gears so far it is working. But im not sure that it is realy fixed.
Here is a picture of the problem car.

if the rear axle froze try getting the AWD kit and use the gearlube on it. ir you dont want to spend the money, use WD-40. i havent tried this but i think that if you have the straw you can just spray it into the holes on each end. but not a lot. then the rotating motion should lube everything.

Actualy I have been lubing the axle and the other parts I think that there is a little wear on the shorter plastic axle on the left side.
Thanx for the advice about the awd kit i was thinking of it and if the problem persists I will turn it into a fwd until they make replacement parts you can buy (at a reasonable price).
Althow I don't have mutch hope that they will actualy sell indavidual parts it would be very nice to see. At this point it seems that they don't plan to even come out with new body styles. That would be nice to if they sold just the body so you could change the car tops. Thanx again and good luck.

It is hard to tell from your pictures but the gears look a little dirty. If they are try cleaning them with a tooth brush and a little rubbing alcohol. Then relube them.

The AWD kit supposedly kills handling...

This couldn't be further from the truth. It increases handling by a great margin.

Cool guys. thanx for the info keep them coming. By the way the gears were dirty when i took the pic. I took it as soon as i got it apart. but i cleaned them after that. As for the problem it looks like the nylon bushings may be the problem.
