Have Microsizers been eclipsed by clones?
 

I went to Big Lots today and got a few clones. First a Thunder Charger truck thing for my friend, then two MicroSpeeds and the track building set for me. First off, the Thunder Charger was $4.99 and the MicroSpeeds were $6.99 each. The track building kit was $2.99. I noticed when I first got a Thunder Charger that it was faster than my Microsizer. The only thing the Microsizer had on the Thunder Charger was body quality and details. It looks like with the creation of the MicroSpeed series, the Microsizers have been surpassed. The body quality and paintjob is much much better. I can't believe I spent $20 on my first Microsizer!! I would much rather have all four of the new MicroSpeeds. I won't say Bits have been surpassed, first because I don't own any, and can't compare the two, but also because Bits have a TON of bodies available.

But as far as Microsizers, it seems like they are obsolete. What does everyone else think about it?

I like the two speed MS the best. I can't see myself buying a single speed for any reason.

NOT AT ALL! Have you ever learned about Porsche? The Bit you have is like a Porsche 914: Not the best Porsche but fun and reliable for it's kind and stylish. The Thunder Charger is say a Hyndai Tiburon: Not Reliable, Not Fun, Not Stylish, and a tad bit faster than your 914. But Bring the Perfection-Modded Bits into the table and you have a 911 GT2.........

I know what Bits are. I just didn't want to comment on them because I don't have any, so I really don't know what I'm talking about. I do know there are alot more bodies available for them.

But aside from the Boosted ones, can you really say the Microsizers are superior to the clones? I can put a 4.2 in a clone, too.

I have not seen these cars that you spoke of, but If you like them, then that's all that matters. The first micro rc car that I got was the subaru WRX Microsizer that my wife bought me for christmas, and I must say yes, they are a little more expensive, but the fit and finish can't be denied. On the high side you have the Bit Char-g and Super Char-g that are to me the sweetest micro rc cars around. Those too are a little expensive, but hey, you get what you pay for.



Have you modified any of your cars yet?

All my cars have Rare Earth, custom antennas, new gears, new motors. Nothing crazy like 4.2, just 2.6, 3.8, etc. I used to have custom exhaust, but they kept breaking off. Maybe I play too rough.:D I'm about to do the layman's tricell to to of my cars, I just need to hit RadioShack this weekend.

I still love my Microsizer, but it gets blown away by my MicroSpeed cars. Ideally I'll get an Auto Modellista set and use the extra three bodies for my clones. That would be the best of both worlds.

I agree, the Thunder Charger, and Microspeed cars from BigLots, seem to have surpassed Microsizers/Bits, in quality to price ratio.

I've bought about 10 Thunder Chargers. Every single one had a very fast, torquey, reliable pink endbell clone motor. The PCBs have good punch. Steering is strong, they turn on a dime, and the wide flat tires seem to improve handling, and help with flipping when dual celling cars. The only downfall is the horrid bodies, and since the wheel base is a tad longer than a bit's, it takes some modding get bit bodies on. Not that I'm complaining at 5 bucks.

The Micro Speed cars replaced the Thunder Chargers. They are 2 bucks more, and the battery is downgraded to 70mah. I also hate the clunky controller. The bodies are nicer looking, but still crap, in my opinion, only prob is now it's harder to modify to fit bit bodies, than on the TC cars. On the plus side for the Micro Speed cars, is the stickier tires, which unfortunately are not as wide and flat as the TC's. The Micro Speed now has a blue endbell motor, which is not quite as fast as the pink ones but still very good. Another bonus is a Microsizer controller will work with no mods, but then again you still have to keep the bulky Micro Speed controller, to charge the car on, because that's the only one it fits. Still though, worth every penny of the 7 bucks, and really makes me question ever spending 20-30 on Microsizers.

I sorry, I don't unstand the purpose of that statement, how is that relevent to the topic? Are you trying to start a my car's better than your car thing? 'Cause if so, check this out:

On the left, 5 buck Thunder Charger, FET modded, Perfection 4.2, Countach body from a pullback.

On the right, original Microsizer, also FET modded, Perfection 4.2 Pro, gold heat sink, pull back wheels, and GT2 pullback body.

Which is faster? Neither. These cars are equal, in terms of speed and handling, but I've put half the money into the Countach.

....I know..... ......speed isn't everything......... that's why I like my Audi TT SE, by far the best Micro under $30 yet.


P.S. I know 1/2 of Tiny RC has a better Bit Char-G than I do.

I liek clones because they are actually affordable in Canada. Clones(Like my 10 precious cars) cost about 20-25 bucks and they all steer relatively good, are fast and amazing range.

I also have some shen qui and some other wierd ones, that cost 10 bucks.

For the price they are good, if you get new batteries and stuff, but also I love my PROS that I got in the US for 30 dollars canadian and they absolutely rock. However, in Canada, normal microsizers are 50-65 dollars(including bit char g's). So price wise they are bad.

Clones have completely eclipsed MS for me at least.

I have owned both, and the differences are minute, with one provision:

You have to know WHICH clones to buy.
As was already stated, some of them are crap, and others, while usable out of the box, don't mod easily or at all.
of course, not everyone is buying them to mod them.
I am.

If you want a decent running car 99% of the time and don't know anything yet, YES, go MS for the "ease-in" factor at the greater expense.

But once you get an eye for the gearing, and can find good cheap clones somewhere, you'd be crazy not to buy them!

(Keep in mind that this is coming from the guy who does almost all Zip Zaps nowadays at Rad Shmack prices.) :rolleyes:

The MS accessory kits are absolutely killer, and usually priced very well, as well as the MS bodies, so you can rebuild a clone to be indistinguishable from a MS if you wanna!

I guess my point is that you don't need to be bound to Microsizers if you learn what to look for in a clone.

So, how about giving us some advice?
