homebrew working tailights!?
I think I have an idea about how to make tailights that shine when the car is in reverse. all you need to do is to hook a transistor to the reverse motor wire and hook it up so the lights will turn on when in reverse. I'll post a schematic soon....

has anyone done anything like this before? If so, can i have some tips?? Any help would be appriciated..........

i think quest for madness has a mod like this, check there

if you got the polarity right, it would work. You might as well put the transistor on the battery wire, so you get added speed, too.:D

Didnt work, the lights dimmed when the tronttle was put on in reverse and they stayed at the same brightness(instead of dim) all the time. It was opposite day....wait, that means that oppositeday must be everyday, since it still doesnt work.....oh well.
|
I think you should wire your LEDs to a second battery, like those flat 3v batteries, since its probably dimming right now cause the car's battery can't put out enough current for the motor and lights at the same time.

that didnt work either......oh well, ill think of something....or mabye ill try undercar lighting with those smd leds........:p

Ive seen it before, but i don't know, it looks like too much work. Right now I have two big projects going on, one is my low CG bit and a dual cell for my friend(8 bucks comin' up!!!!:D). Check out the low CG bit here

I have forward green and red reverse lights beacuase that's the only color i could find lol but they look prety cool on my new 2.4 one i'm going to have it pointed out like a headlight. They look pretty cool. But the light will just turn on when u hit backwards because the wheels start spinning backwards right away so it's sorta weird.
