Not enough Heatsink paste!
So just for the fun of it I decided to take my Supra completely apart...to my dismay I found out that only ONE of the two transistors had heatsink paste on it. Very not good! I fixed that mad quick w/ some CPU h/s paste I had. While I had it apart I also cut out the openings on the bottom of the chassis to allow more airflow to the IC board heatsink and then completely resoldered and rerouted all the power wires. Hopefully my piece will run cooler now.
If you have the skills and/or patience I highly suggest taking your car apart and adding more h/s paste to the two power transistors. |
do u have pics or could u post sum please thanx

Where do you get the heatsink paste? Can I get it at RS?
I have used it a few times when changing certain parts on cars but it came with the part and only enough for the part. |
Yes, u can get it for RS for a $1.99.

viperkilla,
were talking about the white paste you will find under the esc/servo chips. This paste helps transfer the heat from the chips to the aluminum heatsink buried in the bottom of the Xmod chassis. I paid way more than $1.99 I got ripped off  my total came to $41. bucks oh hey wait thats right I bought some Xmod stuff lol. They should just include the paste with the stage 2 kit or AWD kit or the Xmod car kit itself. |
