Corvette project 1
The first of three Corvette bodies that I am working on...
This one's getting close to completion... 1994 Corvette ZR1. This one has been alot of work to make fit, but when it is done, it will look good. Still to be done is adding the windows, lights, adjusting the front wheelwell a bit, and fabricating a rear mount. I will be attempting to adapt over the chrome wheels and properly sized tires as well. (Right now the axles are just resting in the wheels. They are not attached yet) http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_1.JPG http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_2.JPG |
awesome car but sorry i really dont like the color and the backend looks a little high you should:bdrop: it a little
|
Color in the pics isn't that accurate due to the flash and incandescent lighting in the room. It's actually about the same red as this page, and pretty close to the Torch Red the real car comes in. In the pics it looks sort of orange-ish, but that's really not the case at all...
The back is sitting high because it is not mounted yet. It will sit much lower when completed. |
Wow that corvette is awesome. I am going to do the same thing with a mustang I have lying around. Is that body from a model or something? What scale is it?
|
It's an Ertl 1/25th scale model. The wheelbase isn't perfect, but I can either enlarge the wheelwells or extend my chassis a little. We're only talking about 1/8th of an inch here...

i've tried doing a 94-98 body style mustang.....it was a 1:25 scale but the wheel base didn't match up which sucked, but i'm gonna try and find a fox body to see if i can tweak it a bit and make it fit |
Updated pics of the ZR1 project. I actually like it with the stock RSX wheels, they look like wheels I've seen on real Corvettes...
http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_6.JPG http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_7.JPG I have to hold the rear of the body down in the pics because I still haven't got my rear body mount figured out yet. Really all that's left for this one is fab the rear body mount, refine the front mount, and drill the antenna hole. Front wheel wells may need to be trimmed slightly as well. |
Wow thats great looking. I am also working on a mustang car.
|
Finally done...
I figured out the rear mount by accident tonight when I was trying to fab one for the MINI Cooper. Here's the rear mount. Basically, I made a clip attached to the rearmost portion of the chassis. It is reinforced in the middle to where the stock body clip fits into. Note that this method does not effect stock body mounting. It clips perfectly into a space that I had already cut out for other clearance issues. This body has mufflers, so I used part of the lower chassis to mount them. It is this lower chassis that makes the mounting possible. http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokine...ar_mount_1.jpg http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokine...ar_mount_2.jpg Here's some shots of the car ready to run. http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_done_1.jpg http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_done_2.jpg http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/ZR1_done_3.jpg |
   Nice! I can't wait to see what you have in store later on.
|
Im not really a big fan of corvettes but i have to admit that is one sweet car. everything looks nice but the tires could be improved. i think it could look better if the tires were a bit bgger. i realize you might not be able to do this because of clearence issues but i think that would make it better.
