rattlers

My bit has annoying gear noise.

When it runs the gears rattle. I tried flipping the gear the other way, putting it deeper into the axle on the motor, used white 7t pinions and it still makes noise. I don't dare to use lube, I don't know which kinds attract dust.

So will anyone help out and contribute to a list of usable lubricant
types? I'll start with:

1. powdered graphite.

It's dry and doesn't attract dust, right?

ownzorzor 10-26-2003 03:15 AM

Haha I saw your posts most of them are one liners... mine are the 9.86:1 gears

Speedsta 10-26-2003 03:19 AM

No, youre wrong, not all of them are!, LOL!

Anyways so youve got 9.86:1 gears, wat have u put on your car, have you dusted them out or anything like that yet? and when did it start to do this?

I bet

I bet it its a MS sport
u change the gears it still rattle u buy new gears it gets better but still rattle liek crazy impossible to sneak up santa with yoh bit.
but i figured if u push the metal piece on the motor back out a lil so the motor stick outwards a lil and doesnt move at all mite help a lil nto alot but i might be able to sneak up an old death santa.

viperkilla 10-27-2003 06:27 PM

I agree, I would just buy some new gears. The gears probably chipped or something.

where can i get chargeable cell that are 1/3 the size of the orignal size in a bit battery or 1/4.

Speedsta 10-28-2003 07:02 AM

Does It make your car slow with the rattling sound or is it just the sound?

IceSkyLine 10-28-2003 07:22 PM

i got a car that rattle

i had one that was still fast. it stopped rattling after i added thick gear greaseand turned the motor pin inside out.

I prefer to use the bicycle lubricants that set up dry. My favorite is made by Finish Line. Long lasting, safe for plastics, and fairly cheap. My cars run quieter and faster with this than with everything else I've tried. As far as I'm concerned, powdered graphite is good for only one thing: lock cylinders. I would never use the stuff on my rc cars, but that's just me.

IceSkyLine 10-28-2003 07:33 PM

i am nto sure

Its for cars though real cars. to lubricate the powerwindows.
