How to make body kits (skirts).

This is how I do it anyway.

You can do this one of two ways, depending on whether you have a dremel or not.

Things you will need:
Styrene sheet. (Thickness up to you.) (I used 3 sheets of .30)
Glue (I prefer Krazy Glue.)
Dremel or Scissors
Pen or Pencil
Sandpaper

Lay you body over the sheet of styrene. Trace out the edges of you body, the front, rear, left side, and right side. You can save space and styrene by picking up your body and tracing like in the pic. Leave a little space around each one, you will see why in the next step.

Trace like this to save space. Again, leave a little room around each.

Next, draw a little extra around the body lines, more so to the outside. This is your overhang, so make it however much you want. Leave a little bit to the inside, this assures you have enough to glue it to the bottom of the body.

Keep in mind you will be glueing multiple sheets together to obtain the thickness you want.

At this point, you can do it two ways. You can cut these out now with scissors, lay them over another piece to trace out your next layers, or you can glue your sheets together under your tace lines, and cut it out at one time, but you will more than likely need the dremel for that due to the thickness.

Depending on which way you did the last step, you will already have your skirts ready to mount, or you will need to glue the individual sheets for each side together.

Lastly, you will glue your pieces to your body and start to shape them with your Dremel and/or sandpaper. From here you can do whatever you want. You shave/sand them down to the desired amount you want them to overhang, and you can round the edges, and smooth. After that, you are ready to paint.

I make mine wide like this, and then sand them down to where they look good.

Don't forget to sand away the inside too to make room for the body to fit over the chassis.
