OK, First off.....I didn't realize crazydave already painted his the same color....sorry! Second, I love the color, so I decided to keep it. I still need to install the new DUB's and add the exhaust. Well, here it is anyways...

Looks good to bad you cant lower it and keep the lights, oh well I plan on keeping one body for night driving, when the lights are off you can't tell how high it sits.

Well, my first wheel mod with the SE knuckles went very well.

Were the se knuckles any easier to work with?

$#%! No!, It is a lot harder to remove the pins in the SE knuckles. I had to actually hold the wheel with the pliers and use it to hold the knuckle back as I pulled the pin out. There is nothing on the SE knuckle to grab really well.

For those that had trouble removing the pins in the regular knuckles, I feel for you now with the SE knuckles.

sessiz10 09-27-2003 04:15 PM

:( I figured as much.

ridealot100 09-27-2003 04:55 PM

Once again Bad Company you have amazed me. By the way how do you paint your cars? Do you use an airbrush, spraypaint or do you hand paint it. Also how did you make the skirts for the car?

Bad Company 09-27-2003 05:48 PM

And once again....Thanks! I paint mine with rattle cans. I usually use automotive touch up spray cans, but on this one, I used Tamiya hobby spray paint, and it goes on really well, smooth and glossy. I also used the Tamiya clear coat.

I make the skirts out of styrene and just stack how ever many sheets needed to obtain the thickness I want. Then I just cut then to the contour of the body.

ridealot100 09-27-2003 06:21 PM

what color is dose it say it is on the can?

i like the glossy looks so im gonna go out and get some of that clearcoat. i already got some saphire blue metal flake spray paint from tamaiya so i think im gonna paint my old comaro yenko and my savvanah and if it looks really good my skyline.

you have made the initail d car from ugly:( to the coolest zz i have ever seen:D and the dubs pull it all together.

pssss how much you want for that savannah.just kiddn

Bad Company 09-27-2003 06:25 PM

The color is called Mica Blue. I don't have the can right here to tell you the Tamiya T#, but you can't miss it when you see it in the store.

Even before I clear coated it, the paint itself was extremely glossy. The Tamiya paint is expensive ($4.95 a can), but well worth it. After seeing the results of this job, I will be using the Tamiya paint if they have the color I'm looking for.

DriveWRX 09-27-2003 06:36 PM

BC, great job! You made the Savannah look 200% better now. :D
The DUB's are perfect for the body.

How does the SE handle with the DUB's?

Bad Company 09-27-2003 06:41 PM

Well, it doesn't handle as good as the stock wheels and tires, but it's not as bad as I expected. The only real problem is the turning radius is a little wider, mainly due to the tires being a little harder and slicker than the stock rubber. This is only a problem when turning at full speed. If I slow down, I get the same tight turn as with stock tires at low speed.

There is less clearance between the knuckle and the wheel in the SE than in the normal Zip, so you have to make sure there is 0 wobble when mounting the wheels.
