My steering won't center!

After 2 days of owning my Bit Char-G, I noticed that I wasn't getting much steering responce.
So I opened it up, making sure not to break any wires (I tried this many times on my now dead Skyline, and I was successfull) and I noticed that the steering magnet was near falling off.
So I took out the steering what-cha-ma-jig and put the magnet back in after having it fall out. So I picked it up, wiped it off with my finger, and replaced it. I made sure everything was back the way it was, and I re-assembled it. I drove it right off the table, because the steering would not come back to the middle.
It won't come back to centre...
Can anyone help?
PS: I re-assembled it back to stock, making sure that everything was where it was supposed to go.
Thanks for any and all help that you may give.

The steering spring may have come loose or isn't in the right position. Open it up again and take a look.

Okay.
Well my Bit is open, and the one little spring is mounted on a eetsy beetsy post and spread apart on a T shaped thingy....
That's correct, right?
