super bit char-g?
 

Well I got my JOTA SVR Lambo today, finally and was a bit disapointed. The telescopic antenna for the TX is about 8 1/2 inches long. I'ts 1/2 the size of a standard Bit/MS whip antenna. This really cuts down on the range. Out of the box I only got about 6' w/o stutters. Luckily, the cars antenna (I believe it's Cat 5) is wound up a bit and once the knot is untied it gave me about 12' of range. The next problem I have with my new "super" bit is that it's chassis is too low. It actually rubs the ground when it's running. I compared it's ground clearance to a MS and a Bit and they've got about 3 mm of clearance at least. My JOTA actually gets hung up on the cracks beween the tiles on my kitchen floor. :eek: I'm gonna have to file down some of the chassis to give me some clearance. One thing I surely like is that the deatil of the body is outstanding. I got me a Lambo 500 pullback and it too, is highly detailed. Overall I rate this new "super" bit a 5 on a scale of 10. I took apart the controller to see if I could upgrade it's antenna with a longer one and the PCB is soldered down unlike the old ones that were just screwed down. I'm gonna have to do some serious work on this thing. Please, if you have one of these "super" bits let me know if yours is also problematic. I need some other reviews. I would have hoped that Tomy would have done some more improvements on this little toy we all so love. :rolleyes:

Come on, it's not that bad. 1) Don't run it in the kitchen. 2) Have you learned about aerodynamics? Even with a small Bit 1/2 a mm of ground clearence gets better traction and less flippage.

It seems to be the consensus unfortunatly. The super bits have been improved slightly. Nothing ground breaking or really super about them. The chassis cavity has been made tighter. The chassis rides real low to the ground. The range is piss poor stock. The only positive things I can say about them is that the bodies are truly very well detailed and the front knuckles can be swaped
out easier.
I was expecting more.

Yeah the range is still pretty poor, but hey with the new low ground clearance, I finally have the motivation to build a track. Much smoother than the kitchen floor.

When I compared the ground clearance of my JOTA to a MS chassis and a Bit chassis is that you can't even see daylight between the ground and the JOTA chassis whereas the Bit and MS have plenty. I mean I like my new JOTA, but the biggest gripe I have is the controller's antenna. Come on, it's 1/2 the size of it's original Bit brothers'. :(

I'm not mad at all, just giving a review. Actually, I'm completely satisfied with my new Bit. I've got a 17" telescopic antenna waiting to be installed. No worries. I just figured TOMY wouldn't mess with a good thing like an antenna:confused:

The antenna is still better quality. The old floppy antenna was actually a cheap stop-gap. I've seen controllers with the same size antennas as the new super bits, but have extreme range. The problem is power. There isn't enogh power going to the antenna. All tomy needs is a better design.

Also, I shaved down the bottom of one of my super bits too. It works much better now. I'm in the process of dual celling it at the moment.
