Dual Cell??
 

Im pretty new to modding things on my Zip, but i've been hereing about Dual Cells around on this board... Do Dual Cells mean more speed? or more Runtime? If so.. could anyone give me good advise on how to mod my Zip with a Dual Cell?

If you wire them is series, then they put out more voltage, meaning more speed. If in series, they put out more miliamps per hour, which means longer runtime.......

wiring two 1.2v batteries that have a 100mah capacity, here is what you get when wiring them together:

series: you get 2.4v at 100mah, you double the voltage(which in turn means more speed)

parallel: you get 1.2v at 200mah, you double the capacity(in mah, which means more runtime.

yeah, but then you have to put in at least 4 cells, then increase by 2 if you want more speed. wiring in series parallel is like connecting two separate sets of two batteries together to get 2.4v at 100mah in each "battery pack." then you connect the two "packs" together in parallel. so now you have 2.4v at 200mah. mah have nothing to do with the voltage, so you will get about the same runtime with 2.4v as with 1.2v. a peak charged 100mah battery lasts like a long time. i know a 150 lasts about 40min or something like that. so figure on a 100mah battery lasting 20-30min.

This might be kinda a dumb newb thought (forgive me if it is im stupid) but instead of all the soldering couldnt you just stick wires in btween the batter and the metal part and hooks those to the next batter and tape them to the batter with electrical tape?

you could TRY it, but it really doesnt work. with all the resistance from the wires not being soldered and stuff that it wouldnt even feel like 2 cells, more like 1-1/2 lol. soldering them is the best and least restrictive way.

yah u can. What i did b4 i could solder was i took the wires, wtripped the ends, and covered it in tin foil, then i used electric tape to stick that to the batts. It does work, but not as good as actual soldering as it might come apart after a whilw.

But does anyone know of a web site or can take pics on how install onther cell?

Bunta's site is one of the best. Also, earlier in the thread there was talk of having 2.4v and 200mah by using packs or 2 batts. Toyeast sells 200mah batts that are the same size as standard zz batts, just use these for dual celling.

I'm such a blockhead!!! I meant that you should wire them IN, not IS. And they put out more MAH when they are wired in PARALLEL....Thanks guys, I'll try to avoid this type of problem.:( :(
