Another Dub City wheel swap

I've gotta thank Ahh5hit for posting those awesome pics of his black Civic with the Dub City wheels...it inspired me to give it a shot.

I was looking for a realistic look with the wheel swap, so I opted for the Dub City wheels off of a Chevy S-10 truck (older Dub City vehicle?). I think these wheels are a bit smaller than the ones that Ahh5hit used.

It was a huge pain to get these wheels on, but I love the new look!

Nice job! It looks great. They are the same wheels that are on my gold Civic. I got mine from a DUB City black older Cadilac.Did you tab or slot lower it? I think I see a slot in the front???

stevefooter 06-18-2003 09:08 PM

Thanks Ahh5hit,

Yeah, it's a slot lowering. I lowered the Civic way back around New Year's, and didn't do any other mods until now. You're doing some awesome work on your Zips and have inspired me to get back into it.

I also have a completely stock 350z, and am planning on a tab lowering...just need to find some more Dub City wheels :)

I'm getting ready to do a wheel mod on my 350Z also. What do you think about these wheels?

stevefooter 06-18-2003 09:28 PM

Oh, man!! Those Civic wheels are AWESOME! I really like the thicker spokes. Did you drill the rear wheels all the way through? I just drilled straight through, but it looks like you were able to stop short. Very nice.

I really like those wheels you've got there for the 350z, too. Before I put the Dub City wheels on the Civic, I tried to spice up the stock ZZ Civic wheels by coloring the spokes black while keeping the outer lip silver! Needless to say, it didn't turn out well  . The ones you've got there are exactly what I was first looking for for the Civic. They'll look great on that silver 350. I've got the orange 350, and don't think the black spoke/chrome lip would look good on the orange.

It's kind of funny, I've got 3 browsers open right now. On all of them, I've got Ahh5hit wheel/exhaust posts...lovin' your work man;)

I think those would look COOL! The black wheels go great with the silver body. I was at walmart today looking at the dub city cars and some others for some ideas. I want to try it but the ones that my walmart had looked kind of wide and I didn't know if they would work on my zap. I just got me an orange 350Z today! :D I liked the silver one better but I needed a 27mhz.

Thanks for kind words! I've learned a lot from other people on here. I did drill all the way thru. On the black wheels, I just paint the end of the axle black before installing the wheels.

Cool Dad: The best place to find the DUB City wheels around here is Target. I don't know about your area.

Here is the 350Z...

nouseforname101 06-18-2003 10:28 PM

You should drop that thing Ahh5hit

It'd look really cool if you did it as low as your Civic

You'd probably have to dremel out the wheel wells

We have Payoso & his Glorias, Cabo Wabo & his s2000s, Strider for cool mods & now we have Ahh5hit for Zip Zap appearence :)

Bad Company 06-18-2003 10:38 PM

Yeah, I plan on dropping it very soon. I know for sure I will have to dremel the wheel wells with the larger wheels. I did a drop on my other 350Z and it had to be dremeled. I'm not sure I will be able to go as low as the Civic's, but it won't be without trying.

BTW, Thanks for putting me in the same catagory as such great modders.

anyone know if dub city sells a wheel kit separate from the cars? that woudl make things bit easier

Azimov 06-18-2003 11:30 PM

I've seen these things at Wally World. They are cast metal Right? Are they heavy? And do you have a noticeable drop in speed because of them? Just wondering as they look great and I might pick up a set. But, I don't wanna turn the car into a slug:confused: .

sessiz10 06-18-2003 11:48 PM

@azimov- The wheels are plastic so they don't really add any weight. They vary in performance. I don't really like what the dubs did to my handeling.

@typezero- I haven't seen any wheel kits for the 1/64 cars yet.

Azimov 06-18-2003 11:57 PM

I see. Thanks. I might pick some up for show anyways.

Wow!
That Civic is a real eyebrow-raiser! :D

I have a black Civic body, and I'd really like to do something like this!
The thing I want to know is: How does it perform? Are there any steering issues?

The lowness of it makes me think that it might be more stable at higher speeds. (duh, but we're talking Zips here!)

And the Z! Nice! Man the brake disks are compelling.
And you blacked-out the steering pins too, extra credit! ;)

The wife and I are getting ready to go on a tiny vacation this weekend to nearby Chester County, PA. As she is a long time survivor of "Look at this!" she knows I'm always about checking out stores in other areas for stuff like this.

Really nice stuff there guys!
