Paint Removal

What's the best way to remove large amounts of paint from a car body. Let's say I painted the whole car, which I did, and it didn't come out the way I wanted to. How would I remove all of that paint (I don't care if I remove the original paint of the car while I'm doing this, I'm gonna repaint it.)?

Well RCmod.com suggest soaking in PineSol over night but it says it damages some bodies so I'm not sure if its okay on Zip bodies.

I have tried the Pine Sol soaking on my Zip bodies. It will take the paint off easily, but it leaves a goo like substance all over the body. It didn't appear to be any of the plastic though, more like some kind of reaction with the paint.

ive used goo gone it only takes off the paint you apply...also nail polish remobver is good but it takes off the original coat

well, i have goo gone and nail polish remover already lying around so i'll try those. do I completely submerge the car in it or just like spray some on and let it soak or what?

Well, there is one method I use on 1:10 scale R/C vehicle hard plastic bodies and will never go back to using strippers agian. The product is called Castrol Super Clean Degreaser, yes, a degreaser, not a stripper. It is strong enough to remove paint from bodies, but not strong enough to harm or fog the plastic. I have used this several times with great success. You can buy it at Walmart or possibly any automotive store where they sell degreasers. I paid about $6 for a gallon of the stuff and that's enough to strip thousands of Zip and Microsizer bodies. The best part about it is that it is not biodegradable, and it's 100% reusable!

Heres a link to more information on this, scroll down to the very bottom. He refers to the stuff as CSC (Castrol Super Clean)

what i do is just dab a cloth with goo gone or nail polish remover and start rubbing away....but be careful if you dont want to take off the orginal coat if you use nail polish

I've used Easy Off Oven Cleaner (tm) and an Oral-B (tm) toothbrush ;)

works good, won't ruin the body either

nail polish is god like. i scrubbed for like an hour with goo gone and like .2 oz of paint came off. i was about ready to give up, dipped the brush in remover and it started melting away!

told you so ;)
