toys r us monster truck with 3cells

this was the easiest battery mod ive ever done and wow does adding an extra battery to this beast really make a difference. all you gota do is solder wire to either end of the battery and one to the charging terminal and the other to one of the original batteries and ad some tape so nothing shorts and voila you got a monster truck that can breakdance.

i love my bits and all but this thing is a lot of fun.

bad grammar removal

I am picking up one of those from Toys R Us this weekend. I just ordered 4 clones bits that are coming from Ebay. So I will have a few more to play with.

hogjowlz - Is this the KidRiffic Micro RC truck that you're talking about? I picked one up last weekend and love it. It needs more battery time and power, but it's a cool little truck. I'd like to do the mod.

hogjowlz 04-16-2003 11:50 AM

ya a 3rd battery really makes this thing fly.

Buzzbait 04-16-2003 11:57 AM

What kind of batteries come with the truck? I haven't opened mine up yet.

hogjowlz 04-16-2003 11:58 AM

nimh. not sure on the capacity. its nice because they just pop out of the holder. real easy to service. i had to cut a hole in the truck bed to fit the 3rd one.

i was gona do vids last night but it got late. lets just say i can put it in reverse and go fwd and it wheelies upright onto two wheels and then i can make it spin around(upright still) and then stop it and drop it and spin around some more(on all 4 wheels) and then go fwd and then gun it in reverse and do a headstand and can spin around some more.

i think were gona have to go run it in the sandpile in front of my house when i get home.

Lord_Nick_D 04-16-2003 05:41 PM

mines the same stock minus the wheelies unless you go up a slope

can you tell me how to do any other mods and do full instructions on how to do this plus what kind of battery is it it you have to match it or could i just throw in a ms battery

hogjowlz 04-17-2003 10:31 AM

i used a walmart clone battery(120mah) didnt bother to match it with the other 2 but it seems to work just fine.

rt450 04-17-2003 10:51 PM

i already posted the info for this mod on monster truck 4x4, in other tiny rc's. the cells are 80mah nimh's. it's also better to charge it with a 9v battery straight to the car. it also works better if you put tires from a "stampeders" 4x4, or a hot wheels "monster jam" truck. better traction. i need to start making threads when i do things instead of just putting info in other threads. most people just call me jim. but my freinds call me.... jim. "Blazing Saddles":p

hogjowlz 04-18-2003 11:32 AM

howd you get the tires off? its a pretty stiff wall.

ill have to check those tires out. thats my mission this weekend. that and finding a pimper body.

slugbugg 04-18-2003 06:07 PM

I put the hot wheels monster jam tires on mine and the wifes trucks, getting the Kid-Rific tires off is easy but putting the monster jam tires on was alot of work.

To make it easier I dunked the tires in a cup of hot tap water then Quickly dried and slid them over the rims.My main concern was to NOT break the Kid-Rific trucks while putting the tires on.
