X-Men ZipZap

I just recieved my 49Mhz X-Men car with Cyclops on the box and have a few questions. Anyone that has one and a 2002 model zip has the charge time changed in the X-Men zip. Mine seems to take just over a minute to charge. Also does anyone know if the Perfection 3.8 will work in this car without mods?

sessiz10 03-12-2003 12:23 PM

I should have mine tomorrow. I would assume that RS wouldn't go back to the older pcbs. The newer zips run the perfection 3.8 excellently. I have a question for you, is the controller slimmer at all?

cj1267 03-12-2003 12:27 PM

The controler front is a crome smooth mirrored surface the back is transparent blue just like the top cover.

sessiz10 03-12-2003 12:32 PM

Nice, so you can see the inards. What I was asking though is I've heard that the controller is thinner than the older ones. I don't see how or why they would make it thinner.

cj1267 03-12-2003 01:49 PM

The size of the ne remote is the same as the old ones. I even has the raised textured buttons that the new controlers had. As for seeing th inards you can mainly see the antenna, batterys and the screwdriver though the back.:(

Cool, this all sounds great! So the controller is chrome, awesome. Mine is supposed to get here today, I can't wait! Is the turbo motor on par with the stock MS motor?

cj1267 03-12-2003 05:33 PM

The Turbo motor that comes in it is not quite as fast as the stock MS but, the NOS motor in it seems faster than a stock MS. The Turbo spins a little on my kitchen floor where the NOS does the same thing on short carpet with stock gears and tires.

There here!!

Just got the cars in the RS here in Tennessee. I love it Cyclops on the 49Mhz Box and Wolvene on 27mhz

ugh 03-13-2003 04:09 PM

GRRR! Mine isn't here yet! I'm gonna go nuts if it doesn't come today! Hey, do you have some pics of the car and box?

sessiz10 03-13-2003 06:48 PM

I got mine today and all I can say is :D

Well maybe I could say a few more things. I'm not possitive about this, seeing as my son only gave me a few minutes of peace, but I think we have another upgrade on the pcb. Like i said I'm not sure, but it seemed like the steering wasn't draining any juice from the motor. It wouldn't slow at all when turning unlike my other zips even the newer ones. More testing is needed;)
I also noticed that the body is molded in two seperate plastic pieces, sorta like diecast cars. Unfortunatly it looks like the main body isn't clear which sucks cause I was planning on stripping one and repainting it.
The controller makes it all worth it, SHINY:D

My first one no less!!

I just got home with my fist Zip Zap ever, the blue X-Men RX-8.

I put the NOS motor, and an 8.25:1 rear on it.
Nice handling! (I'm used to MS/clones)

I have a Zip Zaps fast and furious kit, and this body is different, in that it's two pieces...

sessiz10 03-13-2003 07:52 PM

Thanks for the pics strider_mt2k. That's what I said about the body, it's a change from all other zip bodies.

*Edit- The X-rims look better than the bit rims on this car.

Has anyone else had this problem with UPS? I'M GONNA SUE THEM!!!!

ugh 03-13-2003 08:16 PM

Anyway, thanks to strider_mt2k for the pics. And yes, the X wheels look better than the BCG wheels.

I'm here I go talking to myself again: Positive thoughts............you can buy another on vacation............happy thoughts.........think happy.........it will come.......

I actually just went to my local Rad Shmack.
I was looking for tuner kits for the wheels and one thing led to another... :D

sessiz10 03-13-2003 08:21 PM

Wow ugh that really sucks man. I couldn't wait for ups (they're coming tomorrow) so I went over to my RS after I heard reports that they were out today. I bought one;) and I get another one tomorrow:p

strider_mt2k 03-13-2003 08:32 PM

Are there other X-men cars?
My RS guy simply picked this up out of a box and handed it to me.

sessiz10 03-13-2003 08:34 PM

The other freq. I got a 27mhz tonight and hopefully tomorrow i get the 49mhz if ups decides to deliver. There is a body set with a silver rx8 on the RS web site.

strider_mt2k 03-13-2003 09:32 PM

I must lose the red antenna, but I have to get more cable!
I've changed the gearing, and put a 2.6 and 4 MS tires on it.
I don't like ZZ tires.

NoPropMan 03-13-2003 09:34 PM

Can someone post some more detailed pics of that controller?

I have to admit, that set looks NICE. I might have to break down and buy another ZipZap...

TypeZer0 03-13-2003 10:58 PM

i guess having the windshield and windows plastic separate from the body makes it easier to paint and not accidentally get sum paint on the windows or if tinting the windows, vice versa. i think the controller has a bit too much chrome on it, but that's me cuz i'm anti-chrome. can any of you compare the xmen car to say the black cobra or champagne civic wiht the same motor gearing etc to see if there are noticeable differences in speed, range, runtime, handling, etc?

sessiz10 03-13-2003 11:35 PM

There's a significant diferance in handling.

ugh 03-14-2003 04:09 PM

Well, I couldn't wait for ups either, so I ran over to my local RS and picked up the 49 mhz x-men car along with the gold civic and black mustang. Hurrah! Salvation! The world is all good now! Woho!

The silver one is only the body and it's kinda expensive at $13. You could always order from the RS site, I'm not sure but I think they'll ship cod.

got BITS? 03-14-2003 07:06 PM

I only have cash

sessiz10 03-14-2003 09:04 PM

COD= Cash on delivery.

A co-worker's controller didn't have this detail on the antenna.

congratulations on post 420, strider_mt2k... I think that calls for a celebration of sorts.

I picked up the Chromed RX-8 body...I couldn't help it! I was totally mesmerize'n me!

Was definitely STEEP at $12.99 plus tax...But then you get the lovely holographic X-Men cards in there too, so that's cool.

Something else easily noticable is that the mounting slits on the X-Men RX-8s are higher up...Which means they mount LOWER on the chassis. A BIG plus as far as I'm concerned!

I'll take pics of this badboy tonight...It's NICE!

TypeZer0 03-19-2003 02:06 PM

could you compare the height of the rx8 body and an older body? probably easiest is to jsut put the bodies on a table next to each other. it's possible the stretched the sides down lower making it seem like the slots are higher

Pictures are now in the Gallery (including shots of the Holographic cards):

strider_mt2k 03-20-2003 06:07 AM

Very nice!
Good thing you got different angles, because it's easy for the detail to get lost in all that shiny shiny chrome!

Great work!

Hey, if I shoot a set like that of the blue body, would you post it like that? I could e-mail you the pics.

Namuna 03-20-2003 09:50 AM

strider_mt2k,

Sure, email me the pics. I'll fix 'em up and post them to the Gallery.
