Bit/Microsizer decals
Hey i just wanted to let you guys know that I just bought some bit decals from a guy named supracrusa on ebay and theyre great. I'd reccomend them to anyone who really wants to give a sporty look to your bit without doing any serious mods.
|
whoops- i spelled the guy's name wrong. It's supracruza
|
There is a sticker set that my LHS is selling. They are REALLY cool, but it's 20 bucks because there are a lot of different sheets. Those type R integra stickers and things.
|
LHS?
|
LHS = Local Hobby Shop :D
I bought some decals off SupraCruza too. Very nice, high quality stuff. And cheap, too. Zeph, those Type R decals sound cool! :p |
oh LHS now i feel dumb.i went to the hobbie shop today and all i saw were large sticker pack's for big RC cars.
|
i also bought decals off him
& he sent them free post to uk (can't fault him, buy some) they haven't been put on yet they were for my nephew & he is still painting the car |
Boy, was I mistaking when I said great, high quality decals. I've had them on my car for less than a day, and 2 of them are allready chipping off... I'm gonna email supacrusa and see what he says.
|
did you put a layer of clear coat on the decals after?
|
nope
|
what should I use for the clear coat, and should i put it on the whole car or just over the decals?
|
go to wallmart or target and get some krylon clear spray paint. make sure you get the glossy. they should also have it at any hardware store.
you dont have to use krylon, just any clear coat spray paint. i use krylon and it works good. i would suggest spraying the whole car. it will make it look really shiny.. you might want to mask of the windows, but you dont have to. just give it a couple light coats and you should be good to go. or even one nice even coat might do the trick. i make these decals also. im working on Nascar bodys. and decal sets for the bodys.. im looking to make the whole field of cars hopefully i can get them done in a week or two. i will have them on my website in my signature.:D |
thx a lot. Does the car look rediculously shiny though? I have the blue skyline- will it loose its metallic look?
|
not too bad. just dont drown your car in it. one light coat should be enough to hold the decals on.
|
If I remember correctly, the decals that ebay dude is selling are waterslide decals. Right?
waterslide material is intended for static display purposes. I'm not shocked that they did not last. Just handling the car will damage them in short order. There are products that are used to better fix them to the surface and protect them. Slot car guys and plastic modelers use it. Plug decals into google and you should get some useful hits. |
those are the same thing. slot car detailers and modelers use these also. the reason that they dont last as long as the ones that you get with the model is that the guy probgably did not seal them on the paper with some clear spray. once printed they have to be sealed onto the paper, even if your using a laser printer. these decals do last very long if you put a coat of clear on them.
they are the same type that you would get with a plastic model... i have been using them for a while now. they work great. |
could i spray the clear coat right on to the decal sheet, then cut them out, put them in water, and put them on my car??

thats whats supppse to be done... once they are printed you are supposed to spray them with clear, here are the instructions thta i just scanned. if you were to buy the paper it comes with this.
|
thanks a lot! that really helps- i appreciate it
|
Hey guys!
Thanks for the kind comments. I've been out of the scene lately cuz I just moved. Now that I'm settled, I can concentrate on designing more decals. Next on my list are decals for Hondas and Toyotas. Any other suggestion, please let me know. Now for the clear coat issue. I suggest you spray on a clear coat AFTER you put it on your car. The reason why is because if you spray clear coat before you apply the decals, it will make the decals stiff and difficult to place, position, and mold on the car body. Enjoy! :D |
supracruza-
i really like the decals- they make any car look great! I bought a sheet of them from you on ebay, but before i could even put the clear coat on, the decal on the windsheild chipped. I have no idea how it happened because i wasnt even using the car. WOuld it be possible for you to send me another decal for the windshield? I would be happy to cover any shipping charges. thx |
Sure...send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll get one to you as soon as possible.
Email me with a description and the auction number. I also have to give you my new address. My email is: real11madrid@aol.com Thanks |
yea i agree with spraying after you apply also.. but if you use a inkjet printer, and dont spray with clear befor you apply. the ink will come off the decal. there are very few inkjet printers that have waterproof color ink. I have yet to notice the decals being stiff after applying clear coat. the purpose of spraying clear on the decals befor applying them is to seal the ink to the paper.. if your using a laser printer to print your decals waiting to apply clear may work. but IT WILL NOT WORK WITH AN INKJET. You really need to follow the directions for the specific decals your using.. i dont mean to step on your toes SupraCruza, this is just what i have learned from experience. if your using a inkjet that the ink dosent run, let us know.. im using a hp deskjet 940c, and a inkjet 1200c(old ass printer)
if your applying to a curved surface, i use a q-tip to press into place and hold it there for a second. this helps it form and also wicks away moisture helping it bond/stick. once all this is done.. you still need to spray another coat of clear to seal them to the car.. |
by the way your decals are awesome.. are you using an Alps printer?
|
Thanks.
No, I use a color laser. I'd like to try out the alps printer to see how well the white comes out. |
yea, i have can use the color laser also (Sharp ARC-150), i would go to kinkos to use their machines, but this sharp is better than any of the color lasers at any of the copy places around me... but i get better results, from my inkjet, and thats why i went with it(able to achieve much smaller detail) although the ink may run if you dont clear coat it.. anyway.
Cool. |
nice decals SupraCruza, hmm...it would be cool if you (or anyone else) can make SPOON decals for S2000's. It would look awesome and i would certainly buy a sheet.
edit- or you can make some Calsonic Skyline decals...mmm..sooo nice! and it would be great because people wouldnt have to buy a BCG set just to get the body. |
I use a color laser to create these decals. They WILL NOT run, so it's safe to spray before or after you apply the decals. I suggest spraying a clear coat AFTER, since spraying a coat on before makes the decals a little harder to apply.
For those of you with suggestions, please send me a link or a photo of what kind of decals you'd like to see. Enjoy:D Click the link below to see my decals |
let me get this strait, i have a DeskJet 895cxi, so i should put the decals on the body BEFORE i spray? Or should i spray the sheet, then apply?
|
spray first.. your using a inkjet printer. ink jet ink is not waterproof. if you dont spray when you put the decal in the water you will see the ink coming off the decal.. but since your using a inkjet you need to spray befor you apply the decal.
SupraCruza, was right on the money with not spraying the laser decals.. laser printers melt/bind the ink(toner) to the page with heat. this type of ink is not water soluable, so only needs to be sprayed once on the car.. either case you should spray once the decal is on the car, this will protect it and seal it to the car so that it doesent flake off. |
SupraCruza, do you have an e mail or something i could use to send you pics or a folder.?
|
|
hey SupraCruza, do you have msn so i can send the folder to you? i tried on hotmail and the attachment was too big :(...dont worry, i;ll find a way if you dont have msn.
|
Sorry I don't have msn.
Do you have a link or something? |
Yeah thats what im trying to do...but not quite sure how to do it...haha...i'll find a way :D
|
hey Supra!
I have been interested in decals for some time but dont have the proper materials at the moment. I do design and stuff, and I was wondering if someone were to make a design (say in photoshop) would you be able to print them and mail them? if yes, what size pic / resolution would you prefer?? |
Swavey.
You should contact Spanky from the earlier post and ask him how he does it at Kinko's. That way you won't have to wait and you can print as many as you want. |
I just recieved my Impreza decals today, but they don't show up on my black body, so I had to throw away the two decals I had already put on the car.:( Does anyone know how to make these show up?
|
decals
Yo swavey,
I have an Alps printer, so I can print white. I have been making waterslide decals for a long time. If you send me a photoshop file, I can make a set for you. If you can send me an Adobe Illustrator file, even better. El Rojo |
El Rojo, I've been thinking about getting an alps 5000. Is it easy to find white ink cartridges for it, or any color cartridge for that matter. I don't want to buy that printer and not be able to buy ink for it.
