Tomy pullbacks

I was just visiting the Tomy site checking out the upcoming pullbacks. Anyway heres what I noticed first, Wider wheels! Especially the rears, they actually look like deep dish maybe. Now hopefully these to will be swappable *with a little work I'm sure* like the bodies. Because you know you want them, I know I do. :)

What exactly is a pullback? Does it use a remote control?

kwikbb 12-30-2002 05:03 PM

No there's no remote control, it's got a wind-back motor in it so you do basically what is says "pull it back" and let it rip. They're cheap $3.25 or something like that, so there great for parts cars and all around fun.

Sweet! Got my pullbacks today, these tires and wheels are Super Cool. The tires themselves are really soft too... probably be great for Drag. And the wheels are a nice improvement over the standard Bit wheels... I love the 5 spoke! I'm really sad that I couldn't get an 86 though :(.
Looks like there may be a little surgery in the future.

Just did a buy-it-now on a Trueno Sprinter...not that i like the Trueno's i just wanted a pullback...and seems the Trueno might be fun to play with. Or I'm sure someone on here would buy it if i put it in trading.

I'm having a blast with it right now! I'm glad I got two of them; one for parts and one for play. They've got an adjustment for the front steering... kinda like the Bits do but cooler. The resistance seems to be too much to actually turn in the corners of a slot track or something, but you can turn them to one direction to make the car go around in a circle. Which is cool, cause it's better than chasing after it once you let go! :D

what about wheel/tire/axle swapping?

The front wheels are fastened in the same fashion, using a pin. So they'll be easy to swap. As far as the rear wheels are concerned, they need to be removed from the axel they're currently attached to. Since it's a totally different drivetrain it gets scrapped. I won't find out how easy or difficult removing the wheels from the axel will be until tonite... maybe. Gotta see whats on the agenda before I can commit to it :(.

hogjowlz 01-29-2003 12:23 PM

hmm ill have to order a few i guess. are there any us sellers that have them yet?

Cyber BRat 01-29-2003 12:58 PM

No there isn't so I had to buy from Hong Kong. Hopefully that isn't a hassle.

Cant wait the rims rule.

sup all, just got my tureno pullback today. not sure how easy swapping the front wheels are going to be. the knuckles are different from bit knuckles. one thing i've noticed is the pullbacks are extremely fast in a straight line. i'm certain i could take ANY bit/zip zap in a straight line easy. yes they're that fast. the thing moved over carpet like it wasn't anything... another thing is they're pretty light. no motor, heatsink or battery like in a bit. heh heh at first i was just going to keep the body and trade the chasis away. but now i think i'm going to keep both. anyway. the pullbacks get thumbs up from me.

That's no problem at all because you don't need to swap the knuckles, you just need to pop out the pin and swap the wheels.
And yeah these things do scream! Hella FUN!

LilBitCharged 01-29-2003 01:27 PM

cool. so have you tried swapping any of the wheels or anything? and 3.75 for one? man i paid 8 shipped...

Not yet I just got them this morning and I'm still at work :(... but just by looking at them you can see that they're attached exactly the same way as the Bit front wheels.

hogjowlz 01-29-2003 01:55 PM

id hope they were a lot faster. physical kinetic energy in a spring(im assuming thats how these pullbacks work) is going to be tons more than an electric motor. think of all of the energy you put into it while pulling it back.

LilBitCharged 01-29-2003 02:08 PM

i'll race anyone!. if you win. you get the title to my bit. but if i win i get the respect. too some people thats more important....:D

AutoFOCUS 01-29-2003 05:06 PM

I guess no one saw my post

hogjowlz 01-29-2003 05:15 PM

does hlj ship from the us?

i found robotoys.com they ship from cali

Silentbob343 01-29-2003 05:36 PM

No HLJ does not ship from the US. I have a Skyline history set on the way. I would destroy my Tureno pullback for the wheels and tires but I paid 9.99 plus shipping from DKS. It was the only place I could find it, HJL was all sold out and I've heard rumors that the body is being phased out.

The rear tires are wider and a lot stickier than a bit tire.

hogjowlz 01-29-2003 05:37 PM

read my post again

Silentbob343 01-29-2003 05:38 PM

lol I was just about to edit my post

AutoFOCUS 01-29-2003 10:17 PM

I got the pull back wheels to fit on my MS! Man I wish I had a digital camera! It defiantly took some work. :D
Should I post a new thread in the mod section on how I did it?

hogjowlz 01-29-2003 11:30 PM

By all means, if you haven't already done it. :)

kwikbb 01-30-2003 07:21 PM

I threw some pics up in the Gallery if anyones interested. :)

MythosGR 01-30-2003 09:06 PM

I posted the same thing a week before but noone noticed it or even cared to answer!!!
LoL
Also the wheels are not only wider but has amazingly soft tires(to get traction with the super fast pullback "motor" I think)

Also I've done the mod and posted pics and I could even post a how-to but I don't think that anyone is going to notice.....
I can just advice you to do the mod because it rules!(I hope you do it and have the same fun I'm having now!)

Silentbob343 01-30-2003 11:53 PM

I'll notice and would appreciate a how-to.
