Bit Limo
1 Attachment(s)
I'm new to Tiny RCs....I just got my bit Skyline a couple of weeks ago, and then pcb fried, so I decided to strech the chassis and make a limo out of it. When its done, it will have two sets of drive wheels in the rear. I just want ppl to take a look at the chassis and see if anyone has suggestions on what I can do for a body.

another pic

Nice! Can you share the details of how you did it? :)
|
.....hmm dont know what to think..im not much of a limo fan.
but youll probably have to find a suv/hummer body and stretch that also so you can pimp it out or whatever bling ding |
it wasn't too hard to do, i just cut the chassis with a hot exacto, and sanded the edges. for the extension, i found one of the drive bay covers from a computer that i built. i figured out where the bends should be and heated the plastic a little and bent it by hand to where i needed it. after it was bent i cut off the extra and used model glue to glue it together.

i don't think limo's themselves are very cool but actually making a bit limo is AWESOME!
|
holy crap. you can fit like 5 batteries in that!
|
right now i have 5 batteries sitting here that i was going to use!!!!!

here is a new pic....this is what it will look like when i'm finished with the chassis. now i just need to put in the other four batteries
|
KEEEP US POSTED COZ THIS THING RULES AND LOONKS KOOL TOO
|
That has the front of a MGA Micro Blast Racer and the rear end of a Bit :p
|
cool
But instead of a limo why not a truck, a flatbed truck to hall a regular sized bit on.
|
you got a good eye R.C.Dealer i would have used the bit front, but since my pcb was fried i bought a clone for a replacement pcb. the pcb and the steering in the clone was different, so i just used that.
thanks for the suggestion Slugbugg, but i was already set on a lim, and have started making the body for it. i have two bodies right now. the first one i'm stretching out a clone body and if that doesn't look right i'm going to carve one out of balsa wood. as far as the pics go, the second motor on the chassis wasn't working so well, so now it will only have one motor on the rear of the car |
Are you done stretching the body for your limo? Pics of progress?
|
OMG!!! 5 batts that guna be the fastest limo i have ever seen
|
thanks for the positive feedback guys. the body should be done by the end of next week. i have the whole week off and nothing but time, i'll get pics posted as soon as i can.
|
a sick idea, but how about adding the front end of another bit/clone to the back to help with steering? but mount it backwards, so when the front wheels turn right to go right, the rear wheels turn left to swing the back end out.. that would be a pretty insane setup
|
I seen a diecast limo that is the perfect size for a bit limo, I should have bought it but we were in a hurry.
This thing must have been almost 5 inches long. |
that's an interesting idea 8ate8....that would be kinda sick though. I did think about trying to hook up dual steering in the front, but the problem was, with the way the steering boxes are setup I couldn't get the two sets of wheels close enough to make steering possible.
Sluggbugg....that is awesome....i've looked everywhere for one, and i can't seem to find one. Where did you see it? |
they have them at a place called Canterbury Village in the toy store, this place is a christmas themed mall with several different stores and resturants.
The limo costs $2.75 |
This an awsome idea! Post pics when you finish!
|
Update
I almost have the body finished, i should be able to post up the pics next week. The body is taking a little longer than i origionally figured, i've had too use alot of modeling putty to fix things that i have screwed up while stretching the clone body.

cheap limo that's perfect
I found a cheap plastic limo body just yesterday that's perfect. MiniCrowe - email me and I can get you one for my cost ($1.08 plus $1.00 shipping). I'd love to see you do this. You can see pics of it here (the bottom one):
http://www.thebrokenjoystick.com/pic...ots/pack_other and here: http://www.thebrokenjoystick.com/pic...rebiglots/limo If you want, measure the distance between the center of the front and rear wheels and I'll do the same for the wheel wells and we can see if it will easily fit on your chassis. These bodies are plastic and really light. All it needs is a good paint job. I'm going to work on my ZipZap limo this weekend. Brian minirc AT pipa DOT net |
Oh - one more thing...that limo chassis might also fit in the school bus I picked up at Big Lots too:
http://www.thebrokenjoystick.com/pictures/schoolbus If you want the limo or the schoolbus, let me know. Brian |
Finally. A limo bit. I drve a limo as a side gig. (coolest job ever)
It's like a nightclub on wheels. Gotta love the stuff that goes on in the back...lol Keep us posted. silla |
Just another update....I started painting tonight, the body is going to be a dark purple with kinda a sparkle in it. It ended up purple, because I was building it for my girlfriend, and thats the color she wanted.:)
|
Just in case anyone else comes across a body that might fit on my limo, the measurments from the center of the front wheel to the center of the back are exactly three inches.
thanks |

A purple limo
I saw this over at "micro rc center" so I ripped the pic :D |
hey...... you've had me checking this site 3 times a day for the past week hoping that you'd be finished with the Limo, but now you left us hangin bro...... update us man, we wanna know
also, i have also done something close to what you are doing. but i use hotwheels bodies, and extend the chassis of my bit, i will get a pic up soon....... Keep On Stretchin' bro. |
Yea this is a great looking project, but I'd like to see how the bodies coming along.
|
I just wanted to let everyone know that the body is coming along, but i can't really work on it untill monday, hopefully i will have new pics up either monday night or tuesday.
|
LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the project!!!!!
1 thing i must ask, is it sluggish w all the weight? Have u considered doing the resistor torque mod (search tinyrc) and gearing it real low? This is brilliant! I was thinking of doing an esso truck, or a cement mixer lorry! Or even a Escort cosworth! |
i wanan see how this comes out...what kinda body r u making for it?
|
Here are pics of the limo I'm working on. I still need to detail it.

Minor Setback
Well, I almost had the body finished, but then my roommate's cat decided it didn't like what i was working on. After batting the body around the room all day while i was gone, there isn't much left. i'll post up some pics that i took before it got broken....i'll also be starting on another body shortly.
|
brianpipa, i think you stole MiniCrowe's idea, but anyways, thats not the point of this post........... i think you should have done like MiniCrowe and lengthened the chassis...... yours don't look much like a Limo anymore, just a bit with a abnormal looking body........ l8r
|
Sucks to hear your limo got smoked by some cat...
|
if it were up to me i would kill the cat....stupid thing killed our christmas tree too:mad:
|
shave it and duct tape its tail to its back!!!!
