Check THIS page out for some pics of the Maru (aka Petit Maru).

There's also a Video of the Maru in action HERE

It's weird that yokomo has started making mini and micro cars because yokomo has been a full 1/10 onroad, 1/12 onroad, and 1/10 offroad race manufacturer.

tinyrc 08-01-2002 06:32 PM

I agree, even if they were just going after just the Mini-Z market, it would be an interesting departure, but that they are doing a BC-G killer too is just too cool. Both of these products look like they will be the absolute top of the line in their respective classes.

Rrickatic 08-01-2002 10:51 PM

What are the chances of a slot car body fitting on these cars?
It would be great if they did.

tinyrc 08-01-2002 10:54 PM

What is the wheelbase on a slot car? These are 48mm.

Rrickatic 08-01-2002 11:08 PM

Thats a good question. I really don't know.

Rrickatic 08-01-2002 11:12 PM

I suck at metric system but it looks to be 1 1/2" from center of wheel base.

tinyrc 08-01-2002 11:20 PM

25.4mm = 1", so 48mm = 1.89".

Rrickatic 08-01-2002 11:39 PM

Thank you for the info. and quick replies.

tinyrc 08-02-2002 10:18 AM

No problem! :)

Namuna 08-02-2002 05:08 PM

Found this little size comparison on the net (I only added the text)

Here's another site with some pics and a little review

http://www.stomper4x4.com/minirc/

dgilpin 08-07-2002 09:31 PM

I am going to get one. And dinball lowered their price to $65 and change, plus $13+ for shipping.

Should I wait for tinyrc to get them?

dgilpin 08-07-2002 09:31 PM

I wonder if any of those Dansam bodies would fit?

Good idea - we'll give it a try once they arrive.

dgilpin 08-07-2002 10:44 PM

The bodies or the poochies?

tinyrc 08-08-2002 01:41 AM

We have the bodies, I meant when the Puchi Marus arrive we can try the bodies on them.

usagi 08-08-2002 10:09 AM

Hi Some of you know me from RCCA boards.....I own one of these little guys. I have owned it for about 6 months now, they are not bad. But I`LL tell don`y expect much, I love it! But the problem is dirt and lint! I post some pictures some time soon :):D

feishiaada 09-05-2002 12:26 PM

anybody have some pics of the motor for the puchi maru?
as well...does it have any sort of suspension?
i'm thinking....the internal looks somewhat
like the mini-z PCB......perhaps you can upgrade the fets on
the puchi maru and give it a turbo ;)
that and maybe upgrading the batteries to some li-ion type ;)

dgilpin 09-05-2002 10:08 PM

The motor is covered up pretty good, but I'll take a picture next time I am in there. Similar to a Bit Char-G, but a little shorter.

Absolutely no suspension.

The circuit board is actually a little bigger than a mini-z board. I can't pick out the FETs like you can on the mini-z. Must be a different type.

Don't know of any li-ions small enough to fit. I get 6-7 minutes of fast running out of a 90 second quick charge with the stock 120mah NiMH cells.

Basically, I am not doing any mods until I can get replacement parts!

usagi 09-05-2002 11:21 PM

Well so far we have not gotten any hint that yoko will release options of replacement parts. I do have some pictures I got of my puchimaru taken apart. I get them up as soon as I can. As is, I have to reason to upgrade any part of the car. Happy as a clam:D

dgilpin 09-06-2002 03:57 PM

I am looking for some softer tires. Any ideas? I suppose a fabric surface on the track might be better anyway.

I saw two places describe them as having gear diffs, but both of my Vitz have adjustable ball diffs! Did they change that?

The only mod I might do is to put in 150mah cells, since I already have some.

irc 09-07-2002 01:55 AM

Dgilpin,

You should wait for TRC to get them in. IM sure TRC can get close to the Dinball price?$78 from Dinball and a wail and wounder dosent sound that great. I know Yokomo USA is releasing a press release soon on both micro cars so TRC should have them in stock soon?

usagi 09-07-2002 02:07 AM

IRC, try around the oct for yokomo to release the press release. The sonic I am hopeing is relased by mid oct. As for the puchi well they are still having problems with shipments? But they are worth the wait in the usa:)I love my Puchi:)

irc 09-07-2002 02:13 AM

Usagi,

Thanks for the info. I have one to and it is a very cool car! I can't wait to gat the 1/27 car and put my mini Z bodies to good use. I have been trying to find some good race decals to dress up my Puchi van?:D

usagi 09-07-2002 06:25 AM

IRC, I can`t wait for the sonic! Its a christmas present already for me:D alone with the Mini-xj happy happy happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

irc 09-07-2002 11:20 AM

Yeah I can't wait for the mini XJ so I can order 50 of them:D I wish you would fill us in a little more on this car as I have contacted Xpress twice about it and even sent them your photos and they tell me no such car is being built:( I do know Xpress is working on some electronics updates but that is all they have told me. Through me a bone and give me some more information about this.

dgilpin 09-07-2002 09:40 PM

Here is a picture of the circuit board and the motors.

usagi 09-07-2002 10:33 PM

I waiting for the VW bug body to be released! thats a cool one!

dgilpin 09-09-2002 10:10 PM

There is a better video up at:

http://www.yokomousa.com/newproducts/movies/petit_1.mov

I also noticed that one page says they have gear diffs, and another (newer) page says they have ball diffs! I think they must have changed to the ball diffs recently - anyone have better intel?

dgilpin 09-09-2002 10:11 PM

usagi -

Are there any pictures of the new bodies anywhere?

usagi 09-10-2002 12:12 AM

yes there are a bunch I post them

Taigerr 11-15-2002 11:22 AM

Hi Usagi

I know its only a few days since your last post... but do you have any pics of the new bodies yet???

thanx

usagi 11-15-2002 08:30 PM

Hold on I have them here on my system Sit tight. Sorry for the wait.

There will be a New VW Bug body yellow and light green.

Taigerr 11-19-2002 11:30 AM

hmmm still sittin..... butt's sore..... while I'm still sitting and to go totally off subject... does the digi-q F1 have proportional FRONT STEERING or is it done via the back wheels??? Thinking of getting one but before I do I think I'd like to see the new Mauru body pics incase I prefer them..... so.... still sitting (LOL!!!)

usagi 11-19-2002 05:38 PM

no, the digi-q F1 does not you the frot part like 1/19 scake cars to turn, it uses the rear wheels insteed.
As for the other questen, i need to get them up.

Zakkorn 11-19-2002 07:13 PM

How fast is a puchi maru according to bit with 1.0 motor?

usagi 11-19-2002 11:03 PM
