SF Bay Area racing?

Does anyone in the SF Bay Area want to schedule regular (like a couple times a year) races? :) Location ideas? Anyone got a track or want to build one, etc, etc..

E)(pul$ioN 11-01-2002 07:44 PM

www.tokyotekki.com

It's located in my city, Millbrae. I heard they have a track and maybe we can race together there... But sure, a scheduled race will be appreciated by the San Franciscans.

NorCalCoug 11-01-2002 08:03 PM

Cool! Maybe we can have a Bay Area Bit Char-G Touring Car Championships or something :) I suppose I can figure out a schedule for us and call them to find out their schedule.. Does once every two months sound cool? :)

delmonk 11-01-2002 08:05 PM

Does it cost money to race there?
Hey ill race anyone in san jose my aim is minhhocau

E)(pul$ioN 11-01-2002 08:15 PM

I'm not sure about da racing costs because they just opened last week... Also once every two months sounds very good... Not too much and not too little... ;)

ICH_BIN_GUT! 11-01-2002 08:34 PM

Its a big track [.............................]

NorCalCoug 11-01-2002 09:16 PM

Does a moderator wanna do me a favor and sticky this so we can keep the list going without having to *bump* it? :) I'd like to see us organize a bay area regular event..

323iT 11-02-2002 02:30 PM

^stickied:D
i might come check out the race too:cool:

NorCalCoug 11-02-2002 04:14 PM

Woohoo! Thanks! :)

E)(pul$ioN 11-03-2002 07:36 PM

Checked TokyoTekki out today!

It is confirmed that they have both a Mini Z and Bit Char-g track... They have plenty of Mini Z and Bit parts and for good prices too! :D

Shacky 11-03-2002 07:51 PM

I'll have to check that store out this week. HobbyTown in San Carlos also has tracks, but I don't know about races there.

NorCalCoug 11-03-2002 09:17 PM

Cool! I guess I'll have to give them a call this week or something. :) Do they just have a road-course track, or do they have a 'drag strip', too?

E)(pul$ioN 11-03-2002 10:57 PM

More Info... Forgot to put in last post...

Ok... Lets make a list :D :

1. Technical Course

2. Free only for about this whole month

3. Start official races in about mid next month

4. Fees will be determined when official races start

All those information are provided by the sales clerk when I asked them.

NorCalCoug 11-03-2002 11:06 PM

Cool! I'd like to find out if we can 'rent' the track for our own events though.. I don't want it to be affiliated directly with a particular store, you know what I mean? :) We can visit different tracks, like some kind of Touring Car racing. Or if you want to go insane we can do Japanese 'Time Attack' style racing; one car on the track for one lap, fastest lap time takes all. ;) Lots of options, I don't want us to limit ourselves. :( But we should definitely take advantage of the free track use this month at least once. :)

E)(pul$ioN 11-03-2002 11:21 PM

Yep Yep! I would love to take advantage of the free month! :D Jap-Style Time Attack sounds extremely fun! :p I would love to be part of that... We would be soo sweating while we make those turns... And in my head: Gotta beat NorCal's time... Gotta beat NorCal's time... Gotta beat NorCal's time... :D :D :D

NorCalCoug 11-04-2002 01:42 AM

Alright, well, lemme work on a webpage over the week too and I'll come up with something. :D

Don't worry though, the Bus will be for drag racing only. ;) I just gotta worry about keeping up with you motorheads. :P

JBit 11-04-2002 02:12 AM

curses, why cant someone have a track in NYC? i saw the track in SF a while ago, very cool. cant the east coast support this kind of thing?

323iT 11-05-2002 09:49 AM

There should be a track somewhere in NYC cuz the city is so big.. but i guess Tiny RCs haven't caught on yet.
hey JBit! Can you go to the photo forum and post some pics of your Mach? i wanna see it!:D

JBit 11-05-2002 01:06 PM

Man, I'll I have is a scanner, no digicam. If I ever finish up a roll of film I'll make sure to snap one shot in 35mm and scan it in! (Tho I probably won't do this till I hop it up with some LEDs or something, who needs a pic of a stock R/C, right?)

ICH_BIN_GUT! 11-06-2002 11:14 PM

i think someone should tell the manager bout the race. Maybe he might support us.

I think I could after school because its near my high school

Kajoq 11-07-2002 05:48 PM

I just built a track XOVERX... There was a guy posting about a week ago saying he owned a hobby shop and held races, but I dont remember if he ever posted his store name/addy

EvolutionR28 11-08-2002 07:39 PM

for those who live near SF does ne one live in Daly City???

E)(pul$ioN 11-08-2002 08:31 PM

I don't live in DC but why you asking?

E)(pul$ioN 11-09-2002 01:31 PM

Attn: Cougy

Yo man, can we get a race going this Monday... They might be open. Help us check since 323iT will be in town and we can have more people racing, and I bet its still free... Go Go Go Check and set-up one this Monday! ;)

E)(pul$ioN 11-10-2002 01:14 AM

Ok, well Cougy didn't see my last post... And I found out that they are open on Monday, but not exactly 100%. More info about that tomorrow night, but in the meantime... Can I get a list of who would like to go Bit Char-g racing at the Millbrae, CA TokyoTekki Store. Thanks. Hope this can be a successful meet!

I am going to the race!

delmonk 11-10-2002 02:36 AM

eh when is this race gonna be whens it open. Some people still gots jobs ya know.

E)(pul$ioN 11-10-2002 12:06 PM

Umm, isn't Monday a holiday and people get the day off...

NorCalCoug 11-10-2002 04:55 PM

Ack, sorry! I feel stupid, I neglected this thread.

I don't get monday off from work, unfortunately. I work in a 24x7 operations center. :) I will call though (I swear! :P) and get info. Anyone want to do this first or second weekend of December? I have to check my Calendar..

E)(pul$ioN 11-10-2002 08:38 PM

Hmm, I'm not sure. The soonest I could have an idea of I could go or not would be the week before the meets... So just get a the call and info going and make a solid date and go from there. ;)

NorCalCoug 11-11-2002 03:30 PM

Okay, here's the deal. They're getting a new bigger track in about a week and a half and that's when they'll start charging for use. They don't know exactly what just yet, so I'll have to call back then to try and arrange something. I'm sure if we can get at least 6 solid participants on a regular basis, we can make it worthwhile for them. :)

i was there over the weekend and talked to the ownerz. The new track will be for Mini Z. I dunno if they told you if the track is for bit char-g or mini Z. I think the Mini Z track is too long for bit char-g to finish one lap. maybe with the 1.0 motor:D

NorCalCoug 11-14-2002 06:35 PM

Dang. :( Maybe we can convince them to let us build a track and 'host' it there or something. :) Eh, pipe dream. Okay, time to start looking for a new place. :o

Hudson5150 11-15-2002 03:49 AM

Micro Hobbies Unlimited & regulation courses

Micro hobbies Unlimited has expressed interest in making one of thier stores and/or tracks available to an organized group of racers in the Bay Area, on a regular basis (perhaps monthly or bi-monthly). If you guys are interested, please contact James Pimentel at jmzpimentel@aol.com to work out the details. I guess NorcalCoug could do it, since he seems to be the organizer?

If you guys have secured a location, then perhaps you could alternate between locations, to accomodate those who live closer to either store. For example, a recurring race date at one store on the 1st sunday of hte month, and on the third sunday at another, etc... Just a suggestion.

For regulated and uniform Time attack trials, take a look at the official QFM BitChar-GP (Grand Prix) race courses A & B. These are designed using the official Tomy guide rails and pylons, so that it may be constructed uniformly by anyone, anywhere. This will result in standardized and more objectively quantifiable results bec you are all running the same course. The idea is the same as the BitDra-G regulation 1/4 mile tracks (12'/20').

Download the BitChar-GP Time Attack Race Course A & B here!

Download the regulation BitDra-G 1/4 mile guidelines here!

NorCalCoug 11-20-2002 02:10 AM

I'm actually already working on guidelines for Bit Char-G Grand Touring Series rules. :) There will be a Touring class and a Grand Touring class, with the TC being more stock-oriented, and the GT class being more open. Also, I'm working on rules for time-attack utilizing various tracks depending on the location we're going to go to. I'll post all of this info when I'm done. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that guy an email.

JBit 11-20-2002 06:37 PM

Argh, why couldnt we have a store like that or this in NYC? Look at that track! (no, not the girls)

natedogg4674 12-07-2002 03:03 AM
