dNano Racing at HT Fremont
 

Soon there will be racing on Friday nights at Hobby Town Fremont. You will see the classes allowed by the scoring software and hopefully there will be races between Hobby Towns via the Global racing software that is in the package. Imagine racing in your Hobby Town while competing against drivers at another Hobby Town at the exact same time with a "Winner" or "TQ" driver declared between the stores. Should be lots of fun!

A little bird told me that Hobby Town Petaluma would have a track this week!

Do you guys take over the phone orders from out of state?

I have asked the Store Manager to ask the Owners if this is ok. The Manager thinks that it is against the rules to sell product into another Hobby Town's area and that is whey they don't currently do it. Who's rules, I don't know. It may be a Corporate thing or it could be a Owner thing. We'll get to the bottom of this soon. It's a pity too, they have all of the cars in stock and have some replacement parts also. Soon they will have the hop ups too... Hopefully we'll have an answer for you soon.

Well, the HTUSA in my area doen't carry them... I will go check again. I will be very excited if they did but I doubt it. If I bug them will they carry them? Shouldn't there be more than just one person interested in these for them to start ordering?

Your Hobby Town should be able to special order the one you want when they order some S-Maxx's in. They get them from the same place...or they will when Hobby Town gets inventory in. Right now the Hobby Town Stores order from Kyosho USA and Kyosho USA ships. This should change soon....

If your Hobby Town has an activities area, encourage them to put in a track! You never know, they just might!

The track looks small and could get boring quick. Do Hobbytowns have plans to make them bigger and change up the layout?

Yes they do. All Hobby Towns will start with the above layout to keep everyone on the same page. This will also allow Hobby Towns to race each other with the Global Racing option in the software. Some of the future layouts can be seen at http://www.racednano.com/index.php?page=experience Eventually Kyosho will change the track layouts and track sizes as things move along. Right now, I can't wait to get a race going to see who's fast! I also can't wait for them to install the 4 panel track!

That is VERY COOL! Do you have any videos with 5 or 6 cars on the track? I would love to see some competition on that track racing for the apex!

Sorry. Those are Mucialagos (sp). The F430 is not available yet in the US via Kyosho USA. I am hoping soon...

I see you guys have been getting a lot of track time in on the HT track. What setup have you found works best on that track?

I have been running the Mazda 787B. So far I have put a ball diff in it and 20 rear tires on it plus a very small amount of weight. The rest is stock. It is pretty fast so far. Our first race is this weekend so I guess I'll see how it stacks up against the competition.

I find the front tires are too slick. I am surprised you guys just replace the rear tires...

edhchoe, I tried the 40 fronts but the car would just pivot around the front. Impossible to drive on the Hobby Town track. Going to the 20 rears got me more steering but did not make the car spin out like the 40 fronts.

So with the 20° rears you are taking away some of the traction from the rear to get more steering.. I see. Then the stock rears must be 10°.

I don't think so. The smaller the degree number, the stickier tire. Stocks are 50°. Putting on 20° rears with 40° fronts decreased how sticky the front seemed by adding more rear grip. I could be wrong, but I think you've got it backwards.

the rears are much stickier/softer than the fronts. They can't be all 50°. I put Atomic 30° fronts with stock rears and the car oversteers on right turns while the left turns are optimal...

The higher the number the harder the tire. The Mazda 787b comes with 50 fronts and 10 rears. I went to a 20 rear to gain some steering as the 40 Fronts were too much for the car.

I've been busy karting the past few weeks and haven't been able to make it out to the dNaNo track. I'm planning on going today if the weather lightens up a little. I'll bring my camera, and if there is a decent number of people I'll get a few clips.

Try to get somebody to take some photos or get a little video if possible. We'd love to hear what kind of setups you guys are running on the HTUSA tracks, and what the tracks are like. I think Arch2b opened a thread about the HTUSA tracks in the 'Kyosho dNaNo Tracks' sub-forum.

I heard the track was covered in sale items for the holidays. Now it found a good home at Fast Pace Racing in Milpitas, Ca. The south bay finally has a dnano track:D

Thanks for the update on the tracks new home. After my last talk with Gary it appears that fremont is letting dnanos die but pricing was still retail so no deals on remaining stock. I would have bought two if the pricing was lower.

You gotta be kidding me....Fremont HT had this many Dnano's in stock? And I missed it? DAMN. I cant find one anywhere except on line now.

hey, if you can travel south a bit to fast pace racing fastpaceracing.com they have a nice porshe ready set and lots of parts like ball diffs, tires, etc. they just opened a drift track also that is perfect for dnano. just givin a heads up, check it out!

Thanks for the info microracer30....yeah i actually go to FPR alot since its pretty close and have been eyeing that Dnano but they dont have a complete set ready to go. I think they are missing the battery or charger or both plus I need a new 2.4 radio to use with the Dnano and MR03 I am planning on getting.

Also I cant stand Porcshe! They said i can order directly from them though so I will have to price it out and see how the price stacks up.

If you are willing to go north, we have dNanos at HobbyTown USA in Petaluma. We have 9 cars currently in stock; Renown Mazda, Kenwood Porsche, a couple of Lamborgini's, a couple of Ferrari 360's, and Porsche Carreras. We also stock parts.

We set up our track almost every Friday. Turn out fell off during the summer but we are planing to ramp things up again when the cold-wet returns.
