noob here,, has anyone actually tried making an offroad track
 

been thinking about getting a micro car,, and decidied on the zipzaps,, the only thing is how well will these handle if you were to make a small offroad track for them,, with small jumps and whoops and such like a full scale (1/10th) track... planing on making one for the winter months for me and my son to play with.. the track would be about 6feet by 3feet ,,, just curious as to how it will handle

Hi, I think bigger is better! For example 3 meters x 2 meters.

For the track, you can use the expansed poliurethane (in spray format) to make the mountains and some others stuff, but obviosly you have to make the track on a piece (or some pieces to join togheder) of wood or strong paper.

At the moment I haven't a zz mt, but for xmas I gonna get one.

well i was thinking of something made of cardboard and using pencils to create the whoops and maybe empty toilet rolls or something smaller for the jumps... and then carpet it or paint it with rubberized undercoat....................... just an idea

Yeah, the toilet rolls are a good idea to make jumps, expecially if u would try to perform a back flip!:D

that is why i mentioned "or something smaller".... lol..

I have a garden and my brother and I made a small offroad track in it over the winter. It was fun until it rained and sorta ruined it. Don't even bother with jumps, just make like hills and stuff. And make sure the corners are wide enough for it to steer because performance offroad isn't so great. If the steering was better it would be insanely awesomely fun! :D

I just finished making a 24" x 48" rough terrain layout. Im just watin for the glue to dry so me and my son can start playin with em. Ill post pics as soon as I download em off the camera.

OK here it is just have to install the bridge and the guard rails around the sides to keep my MTs from falling off the table.se the MT in the top left corner for scale reference.

It's really easy and inexpensive i figure it cost me about $30 US. to build it. I will try to post a tutorial on it later today. If your ever in the austin TX. area give us a ring and well see about having a trials comp.

Im not sure but i think he meant he added 21grams of wieght to the wheels and lower part of the frame. :confused:

yep a combination of moldable lead putty in the wheels and inside the lower chassis and a 1/4 oz self adhesive weight on the front chassis. On the paint I have a set of wheels painted OD green also, but I have yet to wieght them and with those grades it just will not crawl up it without flipping.

Well I wanna see that thng done NOW :D lol well I can wait for a little bit i guess lol

Let me know please , would be a great help as im itching to get one and it really sucks not being able to buy them here , have allready started/attempted terrain like yours before , and I think I need a zzmt this time to scale it up right , as last time a guy had supposobly sent me one and never did.
