JediYoda56 10-17-2002 08:58 PM

Hey guys,

I am in smyrna, cobb co. As for micro/bit you can get them at the hobbytown in marrieta thought they want $40 for them. Also the toys r us in smyrna by the cumberland has the microsizers for $30.

pingguru1 10-18-2002 10:48 PM

I am in Lawrenceville. Anyone feel like racing :)

Russ

TheMechanic 10-18-2002 11:14 PM

Go to the Microsizers web site for a store locator. Just put in your zip, http://www.microsizers.com

The Hobbytown on Satellite Blvd behind the mall has some.

JediYoda56 10-18-2002 11:19 PM

Cool We should find a way to get together and have a racing party :D

pingguru1 10-19-2002 12:06 AM

Well if everyone is interested I say name a time and place and lets do this :)
I can offer up my place for a bit longer (should be in the new house in a few months) and if your interested I have a portable slot car track too.

Russ

JediYoda56 10-19-2002 12:34 AM

Cool you into slot cars too? Me and a friend used to be way into slot cars when we lived in FL. Guy had a over 300ft track was a blast.

pingguru1 10-19-2002 02:06 AM

There are a few in Georgia that are commercial but mine is strictly portable. It is designed on two hollow core doors and hinges for storage and transport. The longest stretch is over 14 feet with the in field and other half being rather curvy. Full skirts and barriers and has 2 power supplies to provide max power with minimal surge. The only downside is that it is just 2 lanes but couldn't fit 4 in a fully portable layout :(
There is a guy in Atlanta that has 4 tracks, 1 road course, 1 oval, 1 tri oval, and the dragstrip. All are 4 lane minimum (except drag strip) and all are connected to PC for lap times. Pretty sweet setup but requires more space than I have. I'll get more info if you like.

Russ

JediYoda56 10-19-2002 09:20 AM

Yeah I would like more info if ya got it.

pingguru1 10-19-2002 10:24 AM

Here is what I've found
http://www.bulletraceway.com/

This is the info on the big place but not sure it is still in business

Address: 2364 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta GA 30067

pingguru1 10-19-2002 10:31 AM

I am interested in setting up some permanent tracks for a free racing club in Georgia if I can get enough interested people. I would like to host slot car and mini RC races and I have the space to do it. If you are interested in doing this let me know so we can put something together.

On another note when and where do we want to meet for some racing???!!!

JediYoda56 10-19-2002 07:42 PM

That sounds cool abd the tracks how would you do it? Trying to get together for racign would prolly have to be on some weekend dependingon how many peopel we can get together. I can orlly get me and another guy.

TheMechanic 10-19-2002 08:40 PM

Kajoq, The web site should be .com not .net, my mistake. To the others the Hobbytown on Satellite has some tracks in the back of the store but they might be a little big for what we need. Maybe once a month or so we could try to get together. Best thing to do is go for it and see how it goes.

pingguru1 10-19-2002 11:35 PM

Making 4 lane tracks can be done with commercial stuff from AFX, no big deal there. For the larger tracks (6 lanes plus) it would have to be custom routed out of MDF or something smooth. I have the shop tolls to build it but don't want to waste the time if there aren't going to be interested people.
Besides the 2 lane may be enough for now since it can be moved from one location to another easily. Let me know when you would like to do this and I will free up the time and dust off the track.

JediYoda56 10-23-2002 12:15 PM

To bad they want $40 for a $30 items. I have seen them in the toy's r us in Smyrna for $30.

Kajoq 10-23-2002 03:08 PM

Any of you know a place near Dunwoody with micros? lol, We use to have a hobbytown in a shopping center right next to Perimeter mall, but it closed years ago... Dont know of any Toys-R-Us that are close to me either. I got impatient and went ahead and ordered 2 bits off of Cosmogames >: ) 350Z booster and the Special GT-R set with 3 bodies, Cant wait!!!

MICROMAZDA 10-23-2002 03:19 PM

I talked to the guy that owns the Duluth location. Hes set up for MINI Z races but no one comes. Perhaps we could talk him into setting us up for Micro races? I work withen 10 minutes of the place and live withen 20 minutes (flowery branch)

Seems more of us are interesting in Micros than Zs, so maybe hes willing to work with us? We could all pitch in and help or get someone to build us a sweet track. Hell we could have some races at my house. I'm the only one there so no one would be bugging us. We can set up in the garage or the living or the dining.

BTW as for the price of my sizer...I paid 30 for it, not 40

TheMechanic 10-23-2002 10:12 PM

MicroMazda,
We're neighbors, I am in Chestnut Mtn with a Flowery Branch address. What freg are you running?

MICROMAZDA 10-23-2002 10:14 PM

Mech im running an UGH....27MHZ. I've not done the radio mods yet but I'm going to.

TheMechanic 10-23-2002 10:27 PM

Micro,
I am running a 49mhz yellow RX7. Thinking about doing the antenna mod on the controller just haven't the time yet. Have you checked out the hobby shop in Gainesville?

JediYoda56 10-23-2002 10:40 PM

So who here might be able to get together and race ZZ's sometime? I was looking for a total number.

Kajoq 10-24-2002 05:22 AM

I probably would be able to

MICROMAZDA 10-24-2002 12:13 PM

Yea count me in.

BTW I added to my micro garage. I went at lunch and pre paid on a PT CRUISER Zip with the infamous Fast and Furious kit with the NOS motor!

Thought I may take the nos and put it in my Sizer cus I can't have a buncha zips running overy my sizer ;)

pingguru1 10-24-2002 07:11 PM

I'm up for it.

MICROMAZDA 10-25-2002 08:34 AM

MICROMAZDA 10-28-2002 12:14 PM

That settles it. We have to approach a hobby shop about racing. I know the boys at WAR ROOM. Maybe they can help?

I think we have to many folks to go to someone home and race LOL. Though my home is big, my drive isn't.

dodgeviper22 10-29-2002 07:48 AM

Just set a time and place

MICROMAZDA 10-29-2002 03:13 PM

No set a place :) and we need a track

MICROMAZDA 11-15-2002 09:52 PM

Update for the Atlantans.

This question about racing in atlanta came up in another forum. Well someone talked to the guy at Hobby Town in Duluth and he is going to allow us to race there.

They guy that is setting this up is out of town this weekend but I'm sure we'll get somthing going in the next two weeks with meets there. I'm gona talk to the hobby town buy myself, and see what the details are. We may have to make our own track or someone bring one in. Even if everyone made a portable track, we could race on different tracks different nights.

I'll keep ya posted when I find out more! Looks like the ball is rolling and I'll have to stock up with more micros >:-)

JediYoda56 11-15-2002 11:11 PM

Ok my atlanta geography sucks haha whereabout is this place? Do you have an addy or something?

Kajoq 11-16-2002 10:22 AM

O nice, I could bring my track, it splits into 3 2'8"x4" sections =x
But yeah... Whats the addy? Im pretty bad with Atlanta geography also, but dad knows the whole city like the back of his hand
EDIT: stupid angelfire not letting me remotely link...
go to www.angelfire.com/biz3/Kajoq1/track2.JPG but yah cant link directly from here lol

MICROMAZDA 11-21-2002 09:31 PM

Were still working on getting a meeting set up at Hobby Town Duluth Ga. Viper I know you had some cool ideas about racing different classes. We'd like to hear them.

Were thinking Saturday, though Tim hasn't gotten back in touch with me. If he mails me back and says yea sat. is a go, would anyone else be interesting in meeting us there?

We need to talk about buiding a track or tracks. I would like to see more than one kind, for different kinds of racing.

Let me know via email

rkobres@yahoo.com

Or you can post here

Azimov 11-21-2002 11:14 PM

Hey there Georgians. I know this thread is about races in Atlanta, but are there any other racers in the Savannah area? I have a nice track in my garage ready to go. It's on a 4x8' piece of plywood and has about 35' of track 9" wide. Abyone near enough to get a race going?

tokizy 11-22-2002 11:45 PM

Atlanta

I am new to this forum.

Just finished with Micromazda talking about tracks. We can meet at Hobby Town with further scheduling.
