do you have the front upper deck on your Xmod?

I have the front upper deck on all my Xmods. I noticed that most people don't have them on.

Is there any reason to have it?

cyrc 08-05-2004 03:49 PM

i just use the clear plastic thing that the whole front part was already conected to with the awd upgrade but i could see why people dont use any thing

micro kid 08-05-2004 05:20 PM

i run both but i chopped them up. i choped all the front one but what braces the bulk heads and did lots of trimming on the rear, mainly the extra lip around the sides of the deck.

hotrod29728 08-06-2004 11:08 PM

I still have mine but, only for a time... I'm getting the Deck upgrades from cXp when they come back outta the backorder situation... BTW cXp is www.customxmodsparts.com

newbitowner 08-07-2004 02:01 PM

i removed the deck from all my xmods.

hotrod29728 08-07-2004 03:15 PM

I guess you could but it kinda looks tacky without it... Thats why I'm buying the ones from cXp...

I have mine on all my xmods because it helps hold the servo inplace or sumthing like that, but I do drill em and hack them up :)

Kevmiester 08-08-2004 10:48 PM

how does your servo pop out of place i haven't had that problem and i took my front deck of the second i got my car. if it does pop out why don't you tape or glue it into place. is there a range problem if it pops out of place or what?

it dosnt do anything for the servo.

xThaiTX 08-08-2004 11:07 PM

i took it out on one of my car because that was the only i could fit my small model engine. also i think that it just add weight but it dont do anything because it doesnt even weight an ounce. on my other 2 i left it on because if i take it out wat would i do with it.

hotrod29728 08-09-2004 05:18 PM

I believe they brace the servo and keep the shock towers from caving in on one another... But, I'm not sure... That's just what it looks like it's there for...

Sky_Liner 08-09-2004 06:24 PM

Actually it does brace the servo, when i first got my xmod i took off the deck... when i was driving around i hit somethin pretty hard and then the steering was all funked up so i look at it and the servo was in a wierd angle i popped it back in place, put on the deck and havent had any problem again... it might be because it was an older model, but the deck is the only thing i could think of.

hotrod29728 08-09-2004 07:02 PM

Thanks Sky_Liner that's good to hear that someone knows a little about the front deck... I have had mine do that before twice... That's why I thought it was to brace it up...

newbitowner 08-09-2004 07:12 PM

I know what you guys are saying. If my servo shifts out of place 1 time, I will put the deck back on.

It won't happen to my indoor cars though.

Rolzt 08-09-2004 07:18 PM

I keep mine on simply because I figure it's keeping most of the dust and dirt from getting into the front drivetrain.

newbitowner 08-09-2004 09:13 PM

that's a reason why i removed them. i can clean quickly and easily.

Blah 08-22-2004 12:32 AM

It keeps ur chassis stiffer

If u take the rear deck off and pull back the rear end it will move ALOT and with the deck on it will virtually eliminate movment making ur chassis stiffer and a better ride

newbitowner 08-22-2004 01:18 PM

i keep the rear deck on

Blah 08-22-2004 09:24 PM

i know it was just an example and the front deck helps keep the towers attatched to the frame because i had the screws on the undersie srtip and my towrs came off but now that i have the front deck on it stays down

eternaldragon 10-31-2004 10:11 PM

i have mine on as will there the graphite ones though.

skyline_69 12-14-2004 11:47 AM

i leave mine on, but i painted it flat black, soon im going to paint the rear deck and chassis flat black as well, i think it helps to stiffen the front end, as everyone has said because it keeps the front towers from leaning in under a load

tigger94 12-20-2004 05:43 PM

i got mine on but it is a custom built aluminum one that i made
