yuck

That's gay......give us some performance parts, not some crappy plastic locking barriers and cones etc.....that's what the PVC pipe is for

Racer240 01-15-2004 04:31 PM

Who holds their controller like that? :p

viperkilla 01-15-2004 04:59 PM

It seems that a left handed person would hold the controller like that.

Racer240 01-15-2004 05:16 PM

I guess I should have been a bit more specific. I meant who holds their steering wheel like that?

Shiporu 01-15-2004 05:18 PM

theMonster 01-15-2004 06:41 PM

gay

people who are gay

kasper01001 01-15-2004 06:47 PM

it looks like the track is made out of foam

theMonster 01-15-2004 06:49 PM

yep it does

you're right it does, so it's not only gay but cheap too, and probably overpriced. You'd have to glue the frickin' foam to get it to stay together otherwise once it get's hit it'll just go everywhere. those red caps may be plastic though, but the grey is definately foam. ha-ha it doesn't even fit together right. Now the mini-z people will definately have a field-day with this.....ugh...and yuck

New Track

What's up with the antennas? Reminds me of bumper cars at the amusement park!

Also, if anyone is familiar with the zip-zap track, you know you have to buy like three track sets just to make one decent sized track. This looks to be the same way. The foam is a good idea though.........

jaubery 01-15-2004 07:02 PM

It looks promising to me. The pvc track I use now is really beating up my cars. I am going to try covering the pvc tubing with foam pipe insulation. That should help but I would be interested in durable, portable, and changeable track. Maybe the xmod track is it?

hpbw2k 01-15-2004 08:03 PM

the new XMODS foam tracks from RS are crap

they are madefrom those connectibal foam squares im making my own that is better and bigger than the RS ones and made from the same materials for like $20.00 compare that to 159.99 at RS skrew RS

hoopsta1423 01-15-2004 08:06 PM

promising until you go to rs and look at the price 160 and 130, can u say rip off

dEmOnRaCeR 01-15-2004 08:07 PM

?!?!?!??!?!? Where did u find this out

hpbw2k 01-15-2004 08:23 PM

go to www.radioshack.com go to the xmod section click on tools cases ect. the tracks are 159.99 now go to www.xmodsrc.com at the bottom somewhere there will be a pic of a track click on it look carefully at the black road part see the interlocking squares u can buy those at wal-mart!!

TypeZer0 01-15-2004 08:55 PM

seems like too much money for too little pieces, you can't even make a technical track with one kit. wide ovals dont' seem too fun

TypeZer0 01-15-2004 08:57 PM

yeh, check out www.radioshack.com and go into the case, tools, etc section

i think they did that so the xmod looks like its moving

this is one upgrade i am not getting i will just go to home depot for some 5.00 foam and skip the $160.00 foam

here

potentiality 01-15-2004 09:30 PM

Oval? Cmon, they could have offered a simple roadcourse version instead of two oval tracks. I would want to drive, not drag.

aero528 01-15-2004 10:23 PM

did you make one or are you just saying you could. it would be a good idea to use for making your own though.

newbitowner 01-15-2004 11:58 PM

any pics of custom tracks?

sessiz10 01-16-2004 12:01 AM

I dunno about the mats at wallmart but I've been using interlocking anti-fatigue mats for over a year now. I use them for the base on my bit track. The grip is a lil great for the bits but a xmod would do great on it. I've recently bought a couple of epoch racers and they run great on this surface. I bought these mats 6 2x2 squares at a local wherehouse store for $16 and 8 more at homedepot (4 2x2 for $20) You could easily make your own track for that money but the costs would be about the same in the long run.

i'm pretty sure they just do that to show more of the controller...

Bad Company 01-16-2004 06:11 AM

From the picture, it looks just like the RCP tracks sold over at minizracer.com. If they are, they are supposed to be very good tracks. They are used in the Kyosho Mini Z Cup races.

Joey 01-16-2004 06:51 AM

They probably give excellent grip.
And expensive grip.

Never buying one.

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking! These aren't just your average foam tiled click lock mats they are hobby RC grade, professional mats. I'm surprised RS are selling them for xmods, as I thought they were aimed at the more serious RC fan.

it looks strikingly familiar to RCP Tracks which are for the Mini-Z as well. if you think they look cheap or whatever, it's clear you don't have much experience with professional tracks.

RCP Tracks are used for the offical Kyosho Mini-Z Cup races and hobby shops world wide. READ HERE for extensice reviews of RCP Tracks.

if it is indeed an RCP Track, those of you who are making these rediculous statments are going to feel really foolish when the XMOD racing series comes around and they are using them.

do some research before making silly acusations about tracks you apparently don't know much about;)

arch2b 01-16-2004 08:32 AM

before more newbies to racing make more foolish and silly comments about what appears to be RCP Tracks as in the "it's official" thread, read the reviews of them on mini-zracer and take a look at other same scale race venues. the fact that kyosho has chosen them to use for it's mini-z cup races says alot about the quality of RCP Tracks. please, do some research before posting posting such rediculous comments such as they are gay...

that being said, you can read about many who have found alternative foam tile sources for creating d.i.y. tracks on mini-zracer as well. this topic has been discussed for some time there.

when and if rs racing series begins and they use these tracks, alot of you will be pulling your foot out of your mouths;)

neurokinetik 01-16-2004 09:00 AM

Definitely looks promising to me. Plus the foam barriers will be a little kinder to the cars than the pipes. It also looks like those barriers have the ability to be anchored down to the tiles. If that is the case, it is a huge advantage over the PVC tracks. Our track gets blown apart and shifted around frequently where I run. There isn't a really good way to anchor it to the carpet.

arch2b 01-16-2004 09:05 AM

there are many threads regarding alternative sources for creating d.i.y. foam tile tracks on mini-zracer.

jbear 01-16-2004 12:03 PM

There are some cool pictures of some custom tracks just like the RS tracks hear http://mini-zracer.com/gallery/.
Go to the second page and click on picture of track

here is rcp's homepage

SonicKuz 01-16-2004 02:17 PM

Arch2b is right on this one. The mini-z people go crazy trying to get these foamy high traction surfaces, which are going to work much better than concrete and pvc when you have a really fast car. No need to act like childish homophobes just because a track is coming out.

theMonster 01-16-2004 04:11 PM

traction=true

That is correct, my traction is aweful on concrete and blacktop is worthless, don't have any place big enough inside to run it, but c'mon hundreds of dollars for this crap? If you're running sanctioned races or competing for money then great it's worth it, but besides a nunch of spolied rotten brats and geeks who have nothing better to burn their cash on, who in the heck is gonna pay 160 for a track especially if you need more than one set to make anything but a small oval.

More accurately, people who are getting paid to pimp out XMODS controllers.

arch2b 01-16-2004 04:27 PM

well, just becasue you do not have the money or do and do not intend to spend the money on one, they do not deserve to be called "crap". Professional quality tracks are hardly "crap".

yes they are expensive. will the average xmod owner who spends $50 on the car afford to buy a track like that, probably not. it's alot of money for mini-z owners too. and those that do haev them would be offended being labled geeks or spoiled brats. becareful with who you stereotype.

so again, before you run off with the negative comments without ever seeing one much less experiencing one, lay off with the crappy comments. go back to your concrete/asphalt or whatever and have as much fun as you can.

RCP offers small tracks for a similar price but the idea is that you buy your own and you can add it to a friend's track to create a much larger one. And with how much mini-zs and their mods can run, it kind of got aimed at adults with cash to burn.

For those on a budget, people just use industrial carpet or buy packs of foam mats and build their barriers. It seems like RCP basically brought the concept to a more refined and proven form, if you are willing to pay for it.

I have a catalogue from Tower Hobbies right next to me offering a mini-z enzo for $179.99. If people will pay that much for such a small car, people will pay for the track too.
