Xmod Competition Series

I emailed RS and posted a question on the official site about the rules for the upcoming xmod competition series. I got an email response to watch the website for upcoming info.

Meanwhile, what do you think the classes will be? Class 1 - out of the box. Class 2 - stock stage 2 with rs mods. Open - ?

I am thinking that even in the open class motor size will be restricted to 130 and bats to 4 cells. I am going to guess that you will have to use an xmod can.

If that's true than the focus on mods should shift to making the best stage 2. If you want to build a winning car.

excuse me, but the competition series has nothing 2 do with actual competition its just a series of cars

Taken from xmods custom rc site news:

Date: 11/21/03

Description: Get Ready! Keep an eye out for news on the XMODS™ Racing Competition Series coming to a location near you. Tune up your skills and compete with fellow drivers.

It's not a different car line. It is a series of races.

Well, a tweaked stage 2 motor can be pretty fast. I wonder if FET mods will be allowed, though. I have two cars that can be made "stock enough" for open class if need be. Most of the little tweaks I do to my car will slide though, even under the stock rules.

i hear (TIME MAG.) that x mods will start a 10 to 15 city racing toure starting april in 04!!!!

i think maybe the most pop.(will be first) of the city but i dont know
that i all the info i have
:D

MattH 12-13-2003 01:47 PM

RadioShack has said there will be a competition series; that much we know for sure. Now, here are rumors I've heard:

1. The top selling stores will get to host races.
2. The stores in the most poplated cities will get to host races (This could most likely be the same as best selling).
3. There will be 15 to 20 races held.
4. There will be one final competition.
5. The final competition will be held in New York City.
6. A full-size car will be given away to the final winner.
7. That full-size car will be from "The Fast nad the Furious."
8. Only hop-ups allowed will be RadioShack parts, but you can paint the body any color you want.

jaubery 12-13-2003 03:07 PM

Matth,

Thanks for the input. If you can get any more information about the rules I think that would be a great help. I lot of people are trying to organize local races now and we would like to comply with the xmods rules.

Bad Company 12-13-2003 03:11 PM

The rumor about the more popular or highest selling stores hosting the races will most likely be ture. Back when they were first releasing the Xmods, the "top performing" stores got them first, and had the most stock. Maybe CJ can shed some light on this.

6 cells

Hey BC, if the radioshack parts only is true, then does that mean that out 6 cells are legal because I got the receeipt to prove I bought the holder, solder and soldering iron from RadioShack...heh heh heh.....and plus, how the hell would they know if I ripped my motor apart and rewound it with less turns, heavier wire and stronger magnets? I doubt they'll take the motor apart.....

if they even know how to take the motor apart. i doubt they'll take a look at the electonics to see mosfet mods. they might have a thing where you put up money to protest someone. I propose that anyone using this site doent rat on anyone else if this is the case!

jaubery 12-13-2003 03:37 PM

Rat on someone? You mean let people cheat because they may not be able to win by following the rules? Shame on you. Do the best you can with the talent you have and win by being the best racer with the best prepared car that conforms to the rules.

They'll have to add more restrictions than that, because I definitely interpret that as allowing me to wind my own 130 motor and use it, stack FETs from stock XMods, etc.

In fact, look what I saw when I went to RS today...

jaubery 12-13-2003 07:17 PM

If it's true that only rs parts will be allowed I am sure they'll only allow xmod parts. That would still allow you to "tune" your stage 2 motor.

Need FORD Speed 12-14-2003 07:58 PM

Fets are probably okay, since the RS people don't know how to take the cars apart :D and are easilly hidden. Motors can pobably be modded too.

But if you don't have rs batts your toast:p Well... i dunno.

MattH 12-14-2003 08:39 PM

When I said only RadioShack parts, I should have been more clear. I meant that only RadioShack's XMODS parts would be allowed. Again, I am only repeating rumors.

Also, testing the amp draw of a motor is very simple and will point out any cheaters. Why would you want to cheat anyway?

Need FORD Speed 12-14-2003 08:58 PM

I was just saying that RS usually doesn't do as they say.

I don't plan to go to any of these races. Heck there's not even anyone to race me where I live.:D

miniDRIFTER 12-14-2003 09:34 PM

I hope RS has a division where its only RS mods so that its an even race and the best driver wins, since everyone has equal power. It will probably be;

A.) Stock (out of box)
B.) Modified (only RS mods)
C.) Outlaw (no restrictions)

I'm really looking forward to the Modified class because I dont want to race some 40 year old man that spends his whole life tinkering with these things.. so he has like a 30MPH XMOD. lol
Besides as far as the cheating goes, im pretty sure they are going to have some sort of way to test how much current or voltage is going through.

Snow 12-14-2003 11:14 PM

I think the stock class would be best because it shows who has the most skill. I don't necessarily know which settings and springs, motors, etc. are best, so stock would give me an advantage.

RedRSX 12-15-2003 02:05 PM

God its ridiculous what kind of rumors get started. Does anyone have any evidence that there is even going to be classes?? I forget who said it but they were like, " I can't wait to be in the modified class maybe even the outlaw class" Whoever said that...high five on making crap up

MattH 12-15-2003 02:53 PM

From what I've heard the plan is to have one class that would allow only RadioShack XMODS parts. It was also said that body painting would be allowed, but nothing else. This of course is all rumor and I doubt RadioShack has firmly decided what they want to do.

ts185r 01-07-2004 11:32 PM

So, what's everyone going to do? If/when RS holds a racing series and "they" supply you with a motor and batteries....to keep things fair.

aperson 01-08-2004 08:09 AM

i remember my dad saying that he had a friend with a nitro car and when ever he went to a race that the track supplied the engines. you drew out of a hat and picked the motor that way. but i would think that RS is gonna supply the motors so that everything is fair.

tavisjohn 01-08-2004 10:32 AM

I do not think that RS would test people's motors, or have motors to "hand out" or any of that. They will probably do a visual inspection of the cars and that would be it. So if someone were to take the white Stage 1 motor and rewind it, and replace the pinion, I doubt that any RS employee would notice. ANY races that are going to be held by RS will be for advertisement purpouses. Wich means that the people racing their X-Mods would basically be selling the upgrades for RS. Think about it, you win the race and everyone who watched would ask you what you did, then head to the counter and get the same stuff you have. Any prizes that may be available are not going to be soo valuable that they would do motor draw tests or hand out motors.
