My 2 9V hook-up
Yes I have done it. And I must say it works out really well. I took off the 2 AAA battery Cells and custom fabricated a holder for the 9V. The hook up is quite simple really, not a whole lot to it. I swapped out the Stock motor, and pulled one from an old R/C car I had that died out. I re-winded the engine and got it running, set it up to the Drift set-up, then hooked both batteries up. Thinking I would Fry the Motor or my Circut board.....But to my suprise as I punched the throttle all it did was spin. The tires came off so i glued them on ( this is a 2WD set-up) then gave it a small amount of throttle as it took off i slammed it, and WHOA! talk about speed! This thing owns! I am thinking of finding a place nearby Utah and go to their XMODS competition (cause I know Utah will never ever see one.) I know i will own everyone! One prob is that the engine overheats......I'll fix that in a jiffy tho, I got a Heat Sync on it as well. I will keep everyone poseted and try to get some pics and videos on me racing some friends and doing what I love to do best.....DRIFT!

P.S. Anyone here on these boards from Utah as well??? I hope there are so we can meet up and have some Mini-Events!

do you have any pictures?
|
i am but i dont have an xmod where you live?
|
I live in Sandy, where do you live?
|
no way me too that is crazy what school do you go to?also i just got my xmod tonight i got a sky line even though i was leaning towards a supra but got the skyline im gonna make it look like 2f2f just for fun but thatz crazy
|
I go to Brighton, do you go to Hillcrest?
|
naw alta and im not rich im pretty poor but my xmod rocks
|
AH! Alta I see.....Which XMOD did you get? You should meet up with me and some other friends and we can race/build and give tips to eachother. I know a bunch of people that go to Alta, its a cool school, but not as cool as Brighton!!! j/p

um sur i dont go out much though im kindof a loser but sure im stock right now so i probably couldnt do well in a race but i could try i have a skyline what you got?

yeah we should race and stuff um hows the 2 9volts doin?i wantred to do this but mine still stock and i don have any money really
|
I pulled 2 9V hook-ups from two Walki-Talkies and then took out the stock drift motor, and put in the SpinBrush Motor, then hooked up the 2 9V (placing then was really hard) then i got it running so hard/fast, I blew the motor!

Shenanigans declaration
I Declare Shenanigans.
An Xmod will not hold up to 9v. any attemt to use 9v on an xmod will fry the circuitboard. show me a picture. DON |
i just hooked one up to mine it was fast bet got a little warm so i took it of i just wanted to be safe it probably would have been fine.and rice rocket it blew the motor not the car thats pretty lucky did you do any thing to make it handle the power better?and when we gonna race or play or whatever we should do it it would be fun

I'd like to see some vids of this 18v Xmod running around. Or an image. Then the image with the smoke coming from the on/off switch.
I can tell by your dialogue alone that you did not complete an installation anything like this. For starters, you call it an engine. Engines run on fuel. Motors run on chemical or electrical energy. Had you really had any experience in rewinding motors, you'd have known this. I could name at least 12 more issues that show that you unquestionably did not successfully complete an installation anything like this. Sounds to me like you want to A: look important as if you did something amazing, but it's simply not possible B: Fool board members into trying it for them selves so you can see what it really does to an Xmod, or C: Insult the intellegence of every member of this board. This is equally as unbelievable as the individual that claims to have installed a 15v Xmod set-up. |

Pocket,
thae last thing you want to do is tell someone with the experiance and knowledge as DeepBlue has to F off. Also please do not down talk Mr Badwrench he to is extemely informed. He has forgot more about cars and rc in genral then we will ever know. I also am having a hard time believing this since i have made a custom wirest for the XMOD and am pretty sure that the PCB cannot handle over 9v's without a FET upgrad and even then 18v would kill it, and yes i read that you only blew the motor and ALMOST blew the PCB but thats the thing ALMOST only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Untill you provide concrete proof that this 18V modded XMOD exists i also have a hard time believing this. You can find my wire kit here a believeable and worthwile mod: http://pub238.ezboard.com/fxmodrcfrm...icID=167.topic XA |
