I think you like small cars of all kinds, so please have a look at what I build:

They are bad quality beacause I had to use a webcam, but you get an impression, I think.

Please tell me how you like my "J-bit"!

That is some nice work there janniz! I would love to see a schematic of the circuitry if you have it! Also what motor do you use??? Is it a pager/phone motor?

The motor I use is from a broken micro-servo.

The other parts are regular R/C-parts, just small ones - thats why I can not post any ciruitry, sorry. I just bought these parts because i wanted to build a TTTT.
The ESC is from "mikroantriebe.de", the reciever is a modified "XP-8" by "Graupner". The steering-servo I use is called "Dymond 5.4".
The chassis was a LXX-clone where I first made room for the reciever:

The gear is made ftom the original servo gear and the LXX gear glued together. The next step was to build the steering. I used the original steering and I cut the thing that holds the magnet. Then I glued the rest of the servo-arm onto it. The servo-arm was also cut and a nail glued into it. The little springs are slot-car parts. Those were the softest I could find and they should prevent the wheels from falling off.

Then I tried how the parts fit:

The cell is 135 mAh-Lithium-Polymer.
Finally I shortend the cables a bit an soldered everything together. Would the Body fit?

The Beetle I use right now was allready painted, I just added some details.

The body is perfect for the "huge" servo. Lights should be added. The rims were made by a board member of "bit-racer.de"

I like your board and I read (and learn) a lot, but I don't understand everything. Thats also why I never posted before.

that truly is the ultimate bit. This is the second fully proportional bit I've seen but by far, this (which is the second one) is much better in looks and also in actual function

hey janniz, would you be so kind as to tell me where to get the parts(english site please) and how much they cost altogether. I can get the servo(s) from my local shop so dont include them in the pricing.

You should go on this fourm more often you can ask any one and we would be glad to explain anything to you some people even speak german I think

Sorry, but I don't know no english sites for buying these products. But it shouldn't be difficult to get them. Maybe you can try this page: http://www.mikroantriebe.de/ but I dont know if they ship to the USA. But I think this guy does: http://www.tttt-parts.org/ and he speaks english too, so just mail him.

The costs are heavy (everything in Euro):
30,- for the ESC
15,- for the RX-Quarz
35,- for the Reciever
(18,- for the Servo)
8,- for the Lipo-cell
15,- for the Lipo charger

Motor, cables, Bit-chassis/body and other stuff was "lying around"

If you have no Transmitter, you'll also have to buy one. I own some because I also drive other (bigger) modells. The bit is contolled by a "EX-1" (KoPropo) which is very expensive and it has a lot of functions you don't need in such a small modell. But I allready owend all the parts and just fit them together.

I never would have bought these parts just to modify a Bit-racer!

Nevertheless its fun to drive this one!

You can get them cheaply at foamfly.com. I would use the GWS Pico BB servo, and a Pico reciver. They're on the airplane freqency though, so you'll need an FM airplane TX. An ICS ESC would be a nice addition, although it has a bit of a high cutoff for anything less than 6 cells.
Altrenately, use the RFFS-100 @ smallrc.com.
They're only 2 grams, have 3 channels, and integrated ESC that is in many respects equivalent to a FET-modded Bitcharger, and PROPORTIONAL actuator drivers, so you can use the standard motor. Of course, the price tag is a bit excessive (90$), so I'm sticking with my modded ZZSE.

That is awesome! By far the best bit modification I have seen. I would really like to try something like that. The only problem I could see would be that the giant (well, compared to the car) servo would move the center of gravity higher than normal, so it would flip easier. Or would the ability to proportionally accelerate/deaccellerate let you slow down enough in turns.

Well, my ZZSE has bit the dust, and I have 2 servos and some other gubbins sitting about. I guess it's about time I built one of these things.....
I wonder if it would run better with an ESC and normal motor? Only about 5v actually get to the servo, so a tiny ESC might be the way to go if I can squeeze everything inot the shell. I must say that you have done a very nice job with the miniaturization.

It would be easier to go buy another SE for $25. Remember, this was built way before SEs were even a thought. It still is very sweet though.

Yeah, I love this, but I was saying that it would be more financially feasible to just buy an SE. This work is stunning, and it also looks to have propo throttle.

I have 2 low-end servos, a reciver, and an ESC handy. How is this not economical? You're probbably right that a servo ESC is the way to go, but I do not have a 4-cell pack, as I only use lithiums. Perhaps a dual E-tec 210mah would work?
I need to get a Mini Cooper-not only do they look cool, but their boxy interior is great for fitting in all of this stuff.

Version 1 was just some other Motor and a different type of steering - like the ZZSE have. I don't know the english word, in German it is "Zahnstange". But it did not work, so I used the "traditional" steering-servo.

I own a ZipZap SE now and I must say: I am somehow disapointed - I thougt they would work better, but the steering sucks and you can count the steps for throttle/steering.

@ cheesehead: you should really try to build one! A car like this is really great fun and can't be compared to a ZipZap or Tomica - steering and throttle are much more precise but it is still "bit-size". Since I allready owned the parts (for a TTTT-project) I did not care much about the "costs" :rolleyes: What kind of ESC do you want to use? Built from a Servo-Board? The one I use works at voltages as low as 2,8V, so a single Lithium-cell (135 mAh) works fine. This ESC is available at http://www.mikroantriebe.de or at http://www.mikromodellbau.de - those are shops specialised in TTTT-parts.
