Deceitful Supra...It's what you don't see that gets ya.

Looks innocent enough from the outside? Well, it is what is packed under that shell that counts. I found a way to slap the Supra body on my 6 cell 7.2v modded chassis with out changing the appearance of the body, other than the decals.
I cut some of the rear mounting tab supports enough so that the battery pack could slide back towards the rear and get out of the windshield. I also added a spacer (bushing) between that tab and where it screws into the body. This raises the rear a little, but not too much to notice. This gives the room needed to have the battery pack under the body and still attach it properly. I hot glued the battery pack to the inside roof and installed the quick connect on the wiring so I can remove the body easily. |

It doesn't sit too high in the rear...

wonder how much power the motor cam handle b4 burning up
|
hows the proformence? how much faster is it? does it heat up fast?
|
Wow that looks cool. How much more speed or power do you get from the 2 extra AAA batteries?
|
I have run it for a full charge with only a little increased heat build up. I have yet to experience any problems. As for speed, I can't tell you what the exact speed is, but it is a big difference. Off of the line, there is no competition with a normal celled car.

Well, after running it around last night, it went sooo fast that all of the decals blew off, but I did pick up some other decorations while running thru a pack of mosquitoes. Heh.
I really didn't care for the old graphics, since I have them on my Skyline too, besides, I'm going to look for some new graphics today. |
well how fast do you think it goes!

What is really nice is the increased torque, even on the higher speed motors. |
ok thanks a lot
|
Let's just put it this way, It's not a car to be messed with. ;)
Ecspecially after I stick either one of those stage 10 or other motors in it. |
Hmmm that would be sweet when you stick a stage 10 motor in it. Geez that thing would be flying.
|
Hey BC
Can you give us a diagram of how exactly that you wired it all up? I have already picked up a battery holder and I am ready to but it in, but want to be sure of the wiring before I do. |

Yeah, let me draw it up.
|
Alright, you've convinced me. :p

Looking from the rear of the car to follow diagram. Find the black wire running from the bottom (negative) post on the left side over to the bottom (positive) post on the right side. Cut it in the middle and strip the ends. Next splice the left side wire to the red positive going to the extra battery pack. Then splice the black negative on the battery pack to the right side wire. Your done.
|
Thanks BC!
|
what did you have to do to the body to get it to fit?, i'm running a skyline
|
looks like it's not that hard to do it
am i right? |
so you put pos to neg on one side and neg to pos on the other?
|
hey bc did u just take the connector from the motor
|
yeah instructions would be very helpful. what does the xtra battery pack clip into

I robbed a quick connect from a chassis I was using for spare parts. To get the body to fit (Supra at least), I had to cut out some of the strengthening bars on the mounting tab in the rear, so I could slide the battery pack all the way up against it. I also had to remove the light kit mounts. I then used one of the bushings and a longer screw, and stuck the bushing between the black part of the mounting tab and the body where it screws into. This gives the body enough clearance to have the heat sink on the motors, and still fit. I then hot glued the battery pack in place.
This may not work for all bodies though. The directions for wiring it up are in the post before the diagram. |

I tried it and the motor stopped owrking. I am going to check the batts, but it does notihng except for steer. I also axidently melted the stock batt holder. Sh!t, the warrenty doesnt cover"melting batery holder"
|
You must have crossed something somewhere.
|
ok i did the modd but now u can hear the servo make noise ever now and then is it supose to do that?

Make sure you don't have any wires crossed up and all connections are good. |
i checked i have good conection and wires are tight the wires are side by side but nothing exposed also my antean wasnt on the car so any help?
|

BTW, I recorded a comparison video on my camera, but I can't figure out how to post it? It saves into real one when I upload it from the camera, but I can't find the root file to upload it. Any suggestions? |
I could host it for you, hit me up on AIM or email it to me: sethmo@galants.com
|
ends up the batts were put in backwards:D
Still slow for my taste. I want faster. Will the s2 motors make a big differnce? |
