Battle scars..

If you're anything like me, you wince every time you bump something with your car, my Skyline looks like its been to hell and back, so I gotta wonder, does anyone else have such "battle scars" on their cars, and if so, how'd you get them? My first thing to go was a mirror, on the first time I lost control and flipped, shortly afterwards I started getting horrible scars along the fenders (they kinda give it character though..) and my front bumper looks..eh..like crap (I'm pretty inventive though..whenever I'd get dents in the air dam..its Sharpie time! Heh.) But today..an entire chunk of that got taken out while I did my best immitation of a rally driver..drove over some out of place grass, and got intimate with the curb =/ the cool thing was, I saw the piece jettison from the front end and off into the grass on the other side of the street, lol, well..that can be fixed, I've still got the body kit set. Anyone else got any stories like this?

aero528 11-04-2003 06:39 PM

mine isint that old yet but you could just wrap parts of the car in paper towel to protect it if you are doing somthing that you think could hurt the car.

dEmOnRaCeR 11-04-2003 06:51 PM

yah just recently i was drivin my car with stage 2 motor without the body hit sumthin when i turned and did a few flips and sumhow ripped the motor wire so i had 2 solder the wire back on:D

Rotary Freak 11-04-2003 06:57 PM

Ouch..man that must've been some impact you had there. If that motor isin't mounted in there just right it does tend to move, so I guess a jar to it like that could probably do it in. And a big thank you to whoever invented soldiering..you have saved our X-Mods many-a-time..heh. I know I've had the wire going to the antenna and one of the wires going to the batteries tear off on me, so yeah..I guess that too can count as something of an "internal" battle scar.

dEmOnRaCeR 11-04-2003 06:59 PM

amen 2 the solder inventor

mustang_steve 11-04-2003 07:17 PM

Loads of em.....loads.....

Cracked passenger side headlamp.....went completely under a fridge going full bore with a stage 2 drift motor...promptly moved driving out to carport.....

massive bald spot in rear bumper.....slid on some oil I didnt see in my carport and the back end hit a steel pylon

Misc scratches....gravel/dirt/etc being thrown up form the alley and reaming my car's body kit... was seeing if I had the power to pull off a dry-land drift using the stage 2 red motor.....oh soooooo close.. :)

A few scratches on the top of the car....neighbor's cat...who promptly knew what was "a-boot" to happen to cats who assault other people's R/C cars (Yeah yeah shameless pun :D )

More battle scars on the way....trust me

Micro S2000 11-04-2003 07:21 PM

i have soo many battle scars

the front edges of my bumper is white from rubbing on my track. the bottom of the bumper broke so i cut it all off. the out side of the wheel wells are grinded. the corners of the spoilers have been grinded like hell. the top is all scratched up and the section right above the windows is all scratched up. the whole body is littered with red streaks from my brothers supra.

luckly i havent had any problems internally

Rotary Freak 11-04-2003 07:35 PM

Oh wow..now I don't feel so bad for all the scratches and dents my car has..I'm a little obsessive with my X-Mod..lol, I like to keep it looking good, but still drive the bejezus out of it. The only reason I even got the bodykit was because I knew before it was all said and done my front end was gonna be ripped to shreds (and now..it is. Not even my trusty black sharpie can fix the huge missing piece of air dam). Well..I get the chills hearing about driving under the fridge and breaking a light *cringes* I bet thats gonna be the next thing I break -_-..ah well, I'll be getting a Supra sometime, and I'm sure it'll end up wrecked just as bad..so we might as well just have fun with em..its not like we've got insurance to deal with on these cars or something ^_^ (thank god..)

rct_19903 11-04-2003 08:20 PM

i was going full speed stage 2 top speed and i didn't see the rise in the driveway and when i hit it my car jumped a foot in the air and three feet backwords. that is the worst of many.

p.s. this is my first post.

4G63T 11-04-2003 09:21 PM

did it get really damaged?:(

Murcielago659 11-04-2003 09:36 PM

I've had a few collisions. There's a scuff on my windshield from when I ran it under a table leg at work, a green streak down the side from when I sideswiped my bro's custom painted supra, and of course, the black on my ground effects is nearly gone. My car's led a pretty rough life...

Micro S2000 11-04-2003 09:47 PM

from request heres my battle scars

Murcielago659 11-04-2003 10:55 PM

Here's my supra about a week ago:

http://home.comcast.net/~werdna12/2Supra.jpg

Now theres a LOT more dents and color marks. I removed the "color marks" from hitting different things but in the process I removed paint  My headlight has chipped and then 3/4 of it broke off. Super Glued it back on and now it's all foggy :p My windows have large white marks from getting caught under the doors but fixed it up with a black sharpie maker. Bottom of my chassis have brown scratches but I have a skid plate now to stop further ones. That's pretty much it, and my setup is only AWD and light kit :D

WytSoupBra 11-05-2003 12:47 PM

my setup (WYTLADY) is

Bearings
Radio Shack NiMH
soft front springs
hard rear springs
stock tie rod
light kit

It's awesome.

viperkilla 11-05-2003 01:23 PM

I guess I am one of the fortunate ones. I dont drive mine outside because I am a big unfinished basement. The only sratches I have are from hitting a pole.

..Ouch. Well, it adds character, my recent battle scar, oddly enough, is my controller's antenna..I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. Just sorta..snapped off. Ducktape makes it behave strangely (straight lines are no longer possible for some reason), I'll try to get that resolved tomorrow (God bless the AEA teachers convention, 3 free days outta school!), but man, your Supra is pretty messed up. Nothin a fresh coat of paint wont fix, and I've learned an important lesson from ya: Don't get a white X-Mod. Heh. It may sound odd, but I think the scuffs, scrapes, and whatnot, make your Supra kinda intimidating.

4G63T 11-06-2003 06:21 AM

i didn't get the white supra because you can see all the scratches and everything on it.

WytSoupBra 11-06-2003 07:49 AM

What a poseur!! Why don't you just get a static model and put it on a shelf? If you race it... or drive it hard (I'm tryin to learn to drift, so I'm bangin' it all over the place) it'll get scratched and banged up... big whoop!! I'll pick up a new body when they start coming out.. they started selling bodies for zip zaps. XMod bodies shouldn't be far off. My point is.. tear it up... It's fun.. that's why I wanna figure out how to put a 1/24 scale die cast body on this thing, so I can really tear up some chair and table legs. hahah

I wanted the red one but my nephew beat me to that one and I'm glad because I like the white one better after I saw the two. The battle scars are almost gone after I used car wax and buffed a little. Yea, I'll eventually paint it but I like it as it is right now.

RS might have a replacement antenna, they use to carry all sorts of telescopic replacements and they still may have them.

aperson 11-06-2003 11:35 AM

they still got antennas but i dunno if they got the little threaded piece on the bottom.

Rotary Freak 11-06-2003 06:48 PM

Yeah I checked out the replacement antenna's today but figured if I was still getting decent enough range and performance from my broken one, that I'd just hold off and wait. The guy at RS offered to order me a new one so I may do that in a lil while, for now, I'll just stick with my craptastic saudered back together antenna.

mustang_steve 11-07-2003 09:21 PM

Well, I went out and bought a body kit for my white supra....mostly for the sparco wheel for my controller..the stock wheel kept binding for some reason..

And I put a mix of the mild, wild, and stock part together, it almsot looked like the castrol supra without paint when it was done....put on teh stiff spring kit I bought and the 1.5 tie rod....time for drift fun...oh and hte hard tread tires

Well...once it was all done I rolled my car at least 12 times, slid on the front lip spoiler about 20 feet, and have MASSIVE massive marks from teh hood on to teh top...and the body kit is now a little bit higher off the ground :p

Funny part was I recoevered from every flip without having to do anything...YAY!

Goes to show rocks in the alley = bad

EDIT: found out what happens when your car flips when you have hella tight lugnuts...the front ones broke :(

viperkilla 11-07-2003 09:39 PM

I guess I am one of the fortunate ones. I am lucky that I have an unfinished basment with plenty of room to drive my XMOD. I dont really have that many sratches since I drive it inside. But I did once drive it outside and decided it was better to drive it inside.

neurokinetik 11-07-2003 10:34 PM

Psshhh. Nobody can beat my battle scars... why tangle with other XMods when you can tangle with real cars? :D

http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokinetik/flat1.jpg

Micro S2000 11-08-2003 01:29 AM

at least my car survived the battles, yours bit off more than it could chew :D

pacificwarriors 11-09-2003 08:55 PM

ouch man sorry about your RSX that is a nice paint job 2

Rotary Freak 11-09-2003 11:48 PM

Once again, ow.

kasper01001 11-10-2003 12:22 AM

man if I can show u guys my "white" supra, me and friends been battling our Xmods like crazy!! tag, capture the flag, time lap, checkpiont, no survivors, chicken, drift circuit, rally, drag, we played it all!! Now my supra has chips of yellow, black, red, blue, silver, and 1 long scratch from the right side of the front bumper to the right rear :D, it also battled RS's superstreet RSX (not the XMOD, tht huge one) it got ran over (no really, it really went under)by it, broken left headlight, body kits pieces everywhere, and for sum odd reason, one of the spokes on the rims have been broken off! well yea I got hooked up wid a "new" chassis from a friend still the white supra, now i can reke havik on more cars!!, I picked the white supra cuz its so easy to see were your "battle scars" are. bbsups
