Something I noticed.

It wasn't that long ago that the SE's came out. Since the Xmods have released, the Zip Zaps forums have been dead. I will admit that I haven't touch mine in a while. I wonder how long before the newness wears off of the Xmods and everyone returns to their normal lives.

Maybe I need to go do another custom Zip just for ole' times sake. :p

What about everyone else? Will you continue to pursue the Xmods or do you think it will be a fad?

as soon as RS finishes counting its benjamins from xmods

even though i don't have one, i think xmods are here to stay. i say this for a few reasons. one, the intro price range is afforadable. two, the scale is just the right size for indoor use and better opportunities for modding. three, there apparently are some crossover parts, technology with the mini-z which has an established fan base.

while i remain a skeptic as to the idea of them ever knocking off mini-z's, they offer plenty of room for modding, for those of us that love that, and lots of opportunity for upgrades. wgen trc and maybe other's start producing aftermarket parts, you will see them solidify their fan base and even continue to grow.

whats the speed difference betweem xmods and Z's?

dEmOnRaCeR 10-31-2003 10:46 PM

Xmods will never go away but alwayz grow at least thats wut i hope

TypeZer0 10-31-2003 11:33 PM

even if it's jsut a fad, to me it's more fun than zips and bits and if they do indeed discontinue xmods (i'm not saying they are, just an example) cuz it was a seasonal fad, i would continue playing with it and maybe move on to mini-z or mini-x.

GhettoFiedRacin 10-31-2003 11:46 PM

i for one havent stopped with my zips, now, i dont currently have an 'X' but will get one soon(hopefully). if you look in the forum i posted 3 new cars from my team .... and i just purchased a motorworks car and the first coat of paint is dryin now .... im using crome finish silver and then some dark blue fade diagonally .... ill post pics when i host em... Actually, I was going to get rid of my Zip Zap after getting the XMod. I really only picked it up for a cat toy anyway, and she actually chases the XMod better. Or at least, she can't swat it across the room where I have to get up and put it back on its wheels.

Anyway, if the Zip Zaps drove as well as the XMods, I'd probably keep it. However, the XMod is very similar to the Tamtech that I always wanted and never bought, mainly because I didn't want to be the only one around that had one. With the XMods, I know quite a few people locally that picked them up, so we'll be able to get some races organized.

Xmods are here to stay, and RS is holding tournaments in 2004, so xmods being dead after christmas is not likely, and they've put up so much hype on this. I still love my micro rs4 more, but xmods are my style and indoor car.

sessiz10 11-01-2003 06:56 AM

I'm loving my XM but it won't replace my zips and bits.

denden 11-01-2003 07:02 AM

I almost bought an XMOD yesterday . Just couldn't bring
myself to do it . I'm sticking with my bits .

viperkilla 11-01-2003 07:24 AM

I think that the XMODS are here to stay. But I have had my microsizers and zip zaps for such a long time, so there is no way my XMOD will replace them.

VuN86 11-01-2003 01:49 PM

i was going to pick up a xmod today but when i went to rs and looked in my wallet i didn't have enough for tax AHHHHHHHHHHHH

christhn 11-01-2003 02:14 PM

I think ZipZaps faded out because they were aimed more at little kids. I always see moms walk into RadioShack and ask about the RC cars. When the worker tells them the prices, they always pick the ZipZap. I just think the Xmods will stay longer, even if it is just a fad, simply because they are aimed out an older audience.

aero528 11-01-2003 04:33 PM

i am going to get a xmod soon but i will still paint and try to mod my micros. i can see them both continuing to be sold. i think that rs will sell both not just one.

That makes sense. Why would they discontinue something that is a great seller.

danny_v_l 11-01-2003 06:50 PM

that always happens to me bc, one day i'm playing with my zips and other cars and the next there in the clothest. thne when i go to do my monthly favorities (on the comp.) i stumble across tinyrc and all those site and rember what fun i had with those little things!

suprafreak33 04-13-2004 10:01 PM

i know this thread is old, but i think it's happening!!! next thing u know your mom is asking u " Can I throw out your xmod that u have not played with for so long?" and we just might say yes :(

the fact of the matter is that in a year or two that we just might say y-e-s
dont get me wrong i love my xmod i still play with mine but sady not as much as last september when they came out IF ONLY RS would give us more stuff to put on or change out, the people of the r/c world might just love their xmod a little bit longer.

R33E8 04-15-2004 06:30 PM

I already threw all of mine out. Its mini-z time for me.

I'm selling all My Xmods. Mini-z is the way to go. Once you drive one, you'll never want to drive your xmod again. They are smoother, faster and quieter. The variety of body styles and available hop-ups is another advantage the Z's have over the Xmods. Mini-Z's are more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Here is a pic of my Z's.
